My Opinion

Although I find Purevolume to be thoroughly addicting, I have also concluded that it can be equally annoying. I've noticed, in my frequent passages within Purevolume, that bands label themselves as specific genres that their music is blatantly not in accordance with. More specifically, I've found that the majority of bands that join Purevolume seem to think that they are "Indie." Even bands who label themselves as "Punk," also label themselves as "Indie." Let me explain for those who are confused: It is extremely rare for a band to exist in both the "Indie" genre and "Punk" genre; one is the opposite of the other. Hence, to combine the two would take much talent, and, unfortunately, many of the bands listed in Purevolume are lacking in that area. I haven't decided if the musicians, with whom I am depicting, are only mislead by the media's definition of "Indie," or if they just insist on convincing everyone that they're one-of-a-kind because they can do the impossible by incorporating both "Punk" and "Indie." It's unfortunate and discouraging; yet, I cannot change the mishap by being a mere advisary. I must add: If any band is uncertain as to what genre their music is a part of, I would gladly shove them in the right direction because, of course, I know everything.
