When We're Shattered

What do you do when you're shattered? What do you do when your life is in pieces? How do you cope when there's nothing left? Is there any hope? Is there any option when you're backed up against a wall with nowhere left to turn to? That's when we tend flail out desperately, hurting only ourselves. We've all seen it. Cutting, porn, drugs, beer, cursing, and sometimes suicide. Trust me, I've been there. I've sinned and fallen and failed just as much as the rest of you. I've done things in private that I would die before I revealed them. I've turned to some of the things listed above and found nothing but temporary satisfaction, nothing but empty lust and lies. I have too wondered if there's truly any hope in this retched life. But that's when I found Him. Jesus, my savior. You see, I'd gone to church all my life and thought I was pretty much immune from the world and it's lust. I was wrong, of course. It took a year or two for me to get on track, for me to become a true Christian, for me to shake off my misconceptions and wrong feelings. Then, that's when Jesus showed me the peace only He can bring. He showed me that I didn't need the lust and temporary pleasures of this world. In the long term they would only ruin me. He brought me to my knees, and told me he would forget my wrongs. That's when I found what I was meant to do. I'm not perfect, of course. I still fall every day. But you know what? I've learned not to retreat, to not back down. I've learned to repent, get up, and keep going. So, what do you do when you're shattered and broken from dozens of defeats. When you have no option. When life throws a ticking hand grenade right at your feet and blows you into oblivion? Simple. Ask Jesus for forgiveness. Ask him for peace. Ask him for the strength to get back up. You don't have to turn to destruction and hurting. It won't help anyone, and it'll leave scars on you forever. All you have to do is call on Jesus, and then get back up. That's it! Simple, isn't it? He'll even forget everything you've done. He's the ultimate father, the ultimate friend. When you're shattered and have nowhere to turn, run to Jesus.
