3-15-08 (Wonderland) Breakthrough. Finally, the mom-to-be got pregnant, the man proposed to his soulmate, only to have a miscarriage and to find that this woman is no angel. This baby, this woman, was supposed to help these tortured souls to find their way, but oh, how wrong they were. The baby; fate. The woman; proof that the man is not as strong as he appeared. How long he had gone, wishing for The One, and there she is, in a beautiful white dress, giving the Best Man a blow job. All those times where she had come home late, when she smelled different, when something in her kiss simply didn’t feel right, they finally made sense. “There’s no way she’s The One,” he says after repeatedly bashing his So-Called-Best-Friend’s face in. He’s right, you know. A couple blocks away is a beautiful girl, amazing in every way possible, but fails to realize it. They’ll meet somehow, bump into each other on the side of the road, pick up the same movie or book at the same time, order the same thing at Starbucks, how it happens isn’t important. The fact is, it will. Until then, he’ll plaster on a smile every morning, put on a suit, head to work, and try to get through the day. “How could she do this, how could he do this,” he’ll find himself saying, until he’s finally had enough. He’ll go for a walk, or to the bookstore or to his favorite coffee shop, and meet the girl of his dreams. He knows this, but fails to believe she exists. He’s afraid it will happen again. He’s afraid to take a chance. But he has to. And he will. For the possibility is what gets him through the day.
