"Reasoning, Logic & the way my brain works"

Giving "God" credit for the miracles we experience/witness in this world is simple modesty. Why is it so hard to believe that people can do good things without the influence of some spiritual being? I believe God is a figment of our imagination that we conjure up to make life easier, kind of like an easy way out. People use "God" to manipulate others to do what they want, to settle everyday complications, or for when they can't solve life's mysteries, "Where did the earth come from?" for instance -People sometimes question, "If God does not exist, where did the universe and first living organism come from (like the whole chicken vs. egg debate), did they just appear?". Do these people ever question, "If God DOES exist, where did he come from, did he just appear?" No religion has proof to what they believe. All they possibly have is some version of the Bible. Which makes me curious as to why people choose the religion they choose. 1. Because it's what their parents believe? 2. It’s the religion that was drilled into their minds ever since they were little kids? This one isn't even fair, little kids believe in the Easter Bunny until someone tells them it's bullshit; and let's face it no one is going to tell these kids that it's not logical for a giant bunny to deliver candy, for a virgin to give birth, that there is an alternate universe that you live in AFTER YOU ARE DEAD, or that there is someone watching you all the time to make sure you do the right thing, which sounds vaguely similar to Santa Clause. (See the connection?) 3. Someone SWEARS there religion is true? EVERYONE claims THEIR religion is the TRUE religion. I mean come ooon, how could anyone even know that?? This shit happened in B.-fucking-C. Therefore they're going off of word-of-mouth or written documents that any crackhead could have come up with. Besides, everyone knows that you shouldn’t believe everything you hear. Most of the "history" you learned about in school NEVER HAPPENED. I'm serious, check out the book "Lies Your History Teacher Told You", it's legit. So why should the history of religion be any different (because no one has the guts to write a book challenging religion). I don't expect you to agree with me, and I don't mean to offend anyone. I know that religion is a risky topic to talk about but this is just the way I feel. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I would love to hear yours! So tell me, why do you follow your religion? ***I am an atheist in a family of Catholics. I choose not to follow that religion because I don’t believe most of what they want you to. Not to mention, I am also a bisexual in a family of homophobics. & if the catholic community can't accept me as I am, why should I accept the beliefs of the catholic community?
