Hey
I'm Mitch
I live in Ottawa, Ontario
I hate trying to be somebody you're not
and the people who do the same.
It shouldn't be about conformity
it should just be about self discovery and living life for what it is.
My favourite artists are in the tags and they change every 5 seconds.
If you haven't already, listen to em
you'll probably like em.
So ya, that's me.
You don't like it, you can go to hell.
Feel free to add me and if you have anything you wanna say
leave a comment or send a message.

See ya

Last Day of Summer

It's the last day of summer and I feel like shit. So much stuff's gone on in the past few days that I don't even wanna talk about it. I'll put it like this...I met an amazing person and let our relationship go to waste. It sucks and it hurts like hell, but hopefully I'll get over it.

But ya, HOLY SHIT!!! Summer's over!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?! It seemed like yesterday that I got out of fucking school, now you're putting me back in? Fucking teachers and their....books....

This whole summer was a waste. I wanted to do alot of stuff and none of it got done. Oh well, at least I got to hang and party it up with my friends a couple of times and I met some great new people (you know who you are).

Crisis

Holy shit, Alexisonfire's Crisis is awesome!!! I can't stop listening to it. Go out and buy it NOW!!!

Here's lyrics from To a Friend...

Panic holds me like a gun
firm and steadfast bleak and cold
I think it's time to kill the drama
This life style's getting old

Faces threaten from behind closed doors
eyes spy from dark windows
Plotting minds seek to harm me,
or maybe not, I don't really know

It's a song about paranoia. It's cool, listen to it.

Top 15 Indie Bands on PV

K, I have nothing to do this morning so here are, in my opinion, the top 15 indie bands on Purevolume right now....

15) Gym Class Heroes. Yes, I'm putting some rap in here, but GCH is a really cool project. Like, listen to The Queen and I. It's like acoustic guitar into rap. I just love that. These guys are going somewhere. Not like #1 single somewhere, but somewhere.

14) Bright Eyes. I'm gonna call Conor Oberst one of the best singer/songwriters ever. I dunno if I mean that or not, but to write all that music before you're like 30 is friggin amazing. Well, Conor is Bright Eyes and his music is pretty cool to listen to.

13) The Pink Spiders. This band is just cool. It's like if powerpop and punk and about 3 other genres of music had a huge orgy and then a baby, but they didn't know who the real father was. It's just a crazy sound. Their album's kickass, but it

12) The Sounds. A cool new swedish band. They sound EXACTLY like Blondie but with this new mainstream punk sound.

11) The Academy Is...pretty friggin awesome. Sure they have that Fall Out Boy sound. Sure every concert they ever have is gonna get them laid. Sure everybody says they're wannabes and posers, but who cares? They're still a great band. Songs like Slow Down, Black Mamba and Checkmarks are some kickass summer tunes that you'll be blaring with the top down on your mom's convertable. Listen to it

10) Cobra Starship. "That's IT!!! I have had it with these mothafuckin snakes on this mothafuckin plane." I love that line. It's so...um...true, I guess. Cobra Starship has given us Snakes On A Plane (Bring It), a crazy song with William Beckett of The Academy Is..., Maja Ivarsson of The Sounds and Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes. Gabe Saporta has his hands full with this project. It better sound good, all I'm sayin.

9) City & Colour. Acoustic emo for the ages. Dallas Green of Alexisonfire has turned a small acoustic side project into something amazing and fuckin huge!! There's so much power in these songs (except Save Your Scissors, I fuckin HATE that song) and listening to them really makes you think about the things you really love. It's cool, check it out.

8) The Subways. OMG, coolest band out of the UK since Bullet for my Valentine. You can really tell these are guys that live and breath their music. Rock & Roll Queen is a song that made my summer. This band is just fuckin amazing. Listen to them or die.

7) Death From Above 1979. R.I.P. Wow, one of my favourite bands splitting in early August like that really hurts the music. It sucks that all we're left with is MSTRKRFT, this new electronic project from Jesse and some other guy. DFA had a great sound. It was nothing but bass and drums with some crazy synth thrown in. It was a really cool sound to listen to. And now they're just gone. Pity.

6) The Hush Sound. You haven't heard much like this before. It's your usual indie punk band with an AMAZING female vocalist/piano player thrown in the mix. Then throw in some trumpets and other weird instruments here and there and you have The Hush Sound. They're another FueledByRamen band, but they're so different from anybody on the label. They're just a really cool band. Listen to their stuff and hell, buy the album.

5) Scary Kids Scaring Kids. Emo/Hardcore Indie is pretty hard to pull off and sound good. SCSC does it pretty damn close to perfect. Thier songs are as dark and emotional as they are interesting and outside the box. They're a pretty cool group to see live too, I've been told. Anyway, it's some cool shit. Listen to it.

4) The Arcade Fire. Oh come on. They're the biggest indie band on the planet right now. With like David Bowie and friggin U2 calling you the best thing in like 25 years, you know you're doin something right. They were this small Montreal band for a while until they went friggin HUGE. Their CD, Funeral 's like always in my CD player at home. It's that music that'll inspire you and help you do your homework that'll also just put things in perspective. Incredible band, check 'em out.

3) Alexisonfire. They were this sick, raw hardcore indie project from St. Catherines, Ontario that somehow got some attention from the mainstream. Suddenly, MuchMusic is playing all their videos and doing specials on their music and through all the hype, they don't really care. Alexisonfire is a band with the best view on music possible. They don't give a shit about messages or anything like that. They just wanna play their music and want people to hear it. Not everybody'll like it, but who gives a fuck? I think that's just awesome.

2) Ambulette. Maura Davis, the lead singer of Ambulette, is a woman with this ability to capture you in her words. The lyrics of her songs are so profound and so powerful that you wouldn't expect a 24 year old woman to be singing them. Her former band, Denali, who split in 2004, were probably the closest thing to my favourite band ever. The lyrics were so cold and depressing, yet powerful and ambient. Were they together, they'd probably be in that #1 spot. I've just never heard anything like it ever before. Ambulette is still fantastic in their own way though. For them, it's alot more about rock than ambiance. Check out both Denali and Ambulette.

1) Paramore. I can only describe this band in one word. Whoa. They're your standard punk band with this incredible woman at the helm singing these emotionally driven, fantastic tunes. The guitar riffs are really catchy, the bass riffs are simple, yet great, the drums are just awesome and the vocals are probably the greatest on FueledByRamen or many other record labels for that matter. It's really diverse music. Like you listen to Pressure and you have this standard pop/punk tune but then you listen to Emergency and it's alot more of an emo/rock approach. These guys are so young, yet so incredible. Seriously, seriously check them out, buy their CDs, go to their concerts, anything. Just listen.

A really bored morning for Blue October

Alright, I'm really, really bored this morning so I'm writing this post for no reason. You could read this post and also be as bored as I am right now, or you could, you know, find something else to do and have fun instead.

Anyway, if you're still here, I got up and felt like some Blue October, so I listened to the new album (it's good, buy it). Some of it's really stupid, but there are some really meaningful songs on it. Anyway, here are some lyrics from Sound of Pulling Heaven Down by Blue October, enjoy...

Somewhere, far away from here
I saw stars, stars that I could reach
It was a midnight, a silent twilight
Fell down, beyond the ocean beach

I assemble all the sand that cover wedding beaches
To build a castle so your mom would have a place to stay
Behind the water slide and down the hill where heaven reaches
Land and time is left to float away

So rest assured I have the key to every opening
To every wishing well that's deep enough to drink
I want to show you just how fascinating kissing is
When earth collides with all the space between

I dunno, it's weird but it still reminds me of the good times when everything was perfect. The world's been a messed up place and we haven't had one of those in a while, have we? OH well, that's my time. Bye.

A random post..

Some awesome songs I've been listening to....

Snakes On A Plane (Bring It) - Cobra Starship (Fueled by Ramen stuff. awesome beat. )
Pressure - Paramore (One of the best bands EVER!!!!!)
Injection - Rise Against (Nice new stuff from Rise)
Do It For Me Now - Angels and Airwaves (Tom Delonge is a cool guy and his new stuff is even cooler)

Alexisonfire's new album will be out soon and their new stuff is sounding awesome. Here's some lyrics from the first single...

The streets are in distress,
The sun suffocates behind darkened skies
The grass is growing under my feet
I'm thinking it wont be long before you get

The line-up seems endless,
Underneath the salvation sign
We are the dead ones, we are the lost cause
We are the people who will not blame ourselves from this
