Hey everyone. The name's Michelle. As the user name might have hinted, I'm a music fanatic. I first found this site while looking for info. on a band I had just heard at the time: Postmark Twain. After looking around the site, I decided that it would be a great way to find other bands that are making great music, but for some reason or another, I haven't heard yet. My main interests lay in the direction of indie, rock, and alternative music. If you have something you think I might like, send it my way and I'll have a listen to it.
Here's a little about me: I'm finishing up college with a BA in History and certification to teach secondary ed. Somewhere along the way, I decided that spending 180 days in a room full to teenagers was a great way to make a living. All kidding aside, I love researching Russian history. I also have six years of video production experience. In the next couple years I hope to get an editing system together so I can start working on independent projects over the summer. Who knows? Once I get things up and running I might be able to do some work on music videos!
Awesome Music from NJ
Well, I just joined purevolume today. So what's the first thing I do? (Well, besides adding the band that led me to this page as my first favorite? Yeay Postmark Twain! I love you guys!) I decide to see what other amazing bands have been hiding out in my state without my knowledge. And now that I've had a chance to look around, I have to say: Wow. I found some great new bands and promptly added their music to my My Music Beta. I also found out that some of the bands I already know and love are based out of Jersey, and I had no clue! Well, I think that it's been a good first day. I'll have to start expanding my search soon.
I refused to give into the soullessness that is MySpace, but I'm happy I joined purevolume. Even if it means that I got nothing done all day today. I can't afford to buy a lot of CDs, and some of the bands I like don't even have CDs for sale, so it's great to have a place to come where I can hear their music and see what they've been up to. Hopefully I can get to a Postmark Twain concert at some point. And hopefully some of the other bands I've found will have some concerts around soon, too. Well, I guess I should put some work into my horribly overdue thesis. I'll let myself find some great bands tomorrow, but I have to flag myself for the night.
