MINNESOTA MUSICIANS
My name is Lora. I've always had a passion for music. I sang & played various instruments throughout my childhood. I've realized that I just don't have what it takes to master an instrument. I decided to attend Minnesota School of Business in 2006, majoring in Music Business Audio Production. I graduated with my A.A.S. degree in June of 2008 and it's one of the best decisions I have ever made.
As I learned about the business side of music I became drawn to the niche of marketing music. Advertising, promotion, public relations, etc. Even though I am not very artistic musically, I've always expressed my creativity visually...painting, drawing, collauges and so on. Lately I've been interested in creating computer graphics and the world of learning how to create, edit & publish my own website.
While in school I realized the true value of Music Social Networking Sites like MySpace, ReverbNation, Soundclick, Last.fm, PureVolume, etc. I orignally started with MySpace because of it's ability to manipulate the look, feel & content of the page. I have since created accounts with all the ones I mentioned. The best part of all of it is....it's FREE! There is no better promotion tool than a FREE one!!
The MySpace page is running strong... the friends list includes almost 250 Artists, some local venues along with many record studios and labels, radio stations, plus many local music fans. I am now beginning the transition to a ".com" or ".net" site. So stay tuned in for updates!
These pages are the beginning of what I hope to become a reliable resource for all things related to Minnesota's local music. Based out of Central Minnesota I'm trying to reach and expose all musicians from North to South and East to West.
If you are a local Artist, Venue, Label, Producer, Talent Buyer, Artist Manager, Distributor or you have anything to do with the local Minnesota music scene, please join up in this quest to expand local musical awareness. And of course, Fans of Minnesota's musicians are also more than welcome to join this movement.
