this is Ernest. I'm filling in for Kayla today.

Today we're talking about AC adapters.

AC adapters come in all shapes and sizes. Some are used for appliances, such as refrigerators, freezers, microwaves, and easy-bake ovens. They are also used for other assorted pieces of equipments, such as guitar effect pedals, Gameboys, laptops, denture cleaners, or something like that.

Wow, I'm boring myself.

Let's talk about something else. Any ideas? Oh wait, shut up. I already thought of one.

- SYNTHESIZERS - (and the the inner workings of)

A synthesizer is a box with teeth on the front, usually black and white (but sometimes yellow), that when pressed produce musical fusion. What produces such amazing sounds?

Magic!

You must first create the sound by programming the synth. Usually you have mulitple soundwaves to work with, such as the saw, square, sine, and vox wave (if you're lucky). Old-school synths consist of strictly sawtooth waves. ("And that's all you get, be happy with it!!" - Gramps) Often, you can adjust the oscillator's tuning or modulation to create new sounds.

Anyways, modulation usually consists of flangers, phasers, or ensemble; popular guitar effects for cheesy old deadbeats guitar players, washed-up from the seventies. But in the world of synth, it becomes a totally different story. With the right adjustments, a home-made distortion can be made from the flanger, etc.

Some other important factors you might consider when programming a synth voice is, how many timbres do I have to work with? If you have more than one, you'll be able to build multiple layers of completely independent programs, which will play together when you push the teeth. But warning! Most synths might end up cutting your amount of polyphony down for having extra layers. So if you had a four note polyphony (ex: you are able to play four notes at a time), you might only have a two note polyphony (ex: only two notes at a time) since there are double the layers.

It's kind of like having a man focus on two things at once. That would cut his productivity in half.
