my teeth chatter, my stomach churns the earth quakes beneath my well-worn shoes a figure briskly passes, his familiar scent: aftershave, car greese, dirt SLAM goes the front door, the v8 revved up in his Cobra could be heard a mile away he believed a lie his boys had told, A lie that i was with someone else. I told him no. his angry eyes fierry with rage. I turn to the others in room gazes of horror on their bronzeed faces. i reach to my aching head and feel wetness warm crimson seeps onto my hands, i drop to my knees Astonished that he struck me. Eyes go astray around me, trying their best not to make a scene. I search for a friendly face... they were all with him. don't let her leave. The bodies around me begin to hover, assessing the situation. murmured amongst themselves. perhaps louder than a murmur. my head reeled with pain, it was impossible to hear them where was he, why did he leave me here... with them. a wince noted there was blood in my mouth. i never saw him hit me, or at least i don't remember. i didn't understand his reaction, but i knew what had happened. slipping further to the ground a last immeasurable blow.
