(This was passed to me through a friend of mine that works for a paper that will not me said. But i urge you to read this, and not pass it off like some stupid chain letter.)

There are a lot of strange things happening in the New Orleans and Metro area. A Jefferson Parish officer mentioned to a friend of mine that a lot of gangs have been seen in Jefferson Parish. One gang mentioned is the MS-13; this gang is one of the largest gangs in U.S. They originated in El Salvador and have populated over 33 states in the U.S. There are about 100,000 members in this gang. When a man wants to become a member of the gang, they must do a violent crime. Most of the crimes are rape and murder. Most of these gang members are Latin, however some that have been seen in our area look black (African American) but speak Spanish. They are known to wear thug clothes such as bright color sports jerseys with the numbers 13 or they may have the number 67 or 76, which equal 13. The gang members are also covered in tattoos, their tattoos include the numbers mentioned above. LADIES THIS IS SERIOUS!! BE CAREFUL AND BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS!! TRY NOT TO TRAVEL ALONE, ESPECIALLY TO SHOPPING MALLS!! PARKING LOTS ARE THEIR TARGET AREA!!!

This needs to be read by everyone in New Orleans, Jefferson Parish and surrounding areas. But I am sending it to everyone I know because it can happen anywhere. Feel free to pass it along for this message can save lives.

Right now, as we all know, there are an unusually large number of people from other cities and states (many foreigners) in the New Orleans and surrounding areas. Most are here to help us clean up and do good deeds, but theres also been an increase in crime. These crimes are taking place in areas that we the New Orleans citizens know were safe areas before Katrina.

HERE ARE A FEW INCIDENTS THAT HAVE BEEN HAPPENING RECENTLY:

On March 24th , a woman went to Bed, Bath and Beyond in Clearview Mall, in Metairie, to get a shower gift. She was in the store no longer than 30 minutes. When she came out of the store she notice one of the tires on her car was flat, very flat! She put her bag in her car and walked back to Bed, Bath and Beyond and called her husband from her cell phone to come help her. No big deal right??? Her husband called her when he got close to the mall so then she went back outside to her car to wait for her husband. A man dressed in a suit with a briefcase walked up and offered to change her tire. As she was telling the man no thanks, her husband pulled up. The man in the suit walked off very quickly after seeing her husband pulling up. The next day she brought her car to have her tire repaired and was told that the tire seemed to be punctured with an ice pick. After reading this article, to others and myself, this article seems like a generous man trying to help. Well read the next article.



About a week later, a woman (actually a friend of a friend of mine) went to Sams on Loyola in Kenner to go shopping. She came out of Sams to find her tire was flat. A man also dressed in a suit with a briefcase approached her and offered to fix her flat; she accepted the offer and was grateful that he was willing to help her. When the man was done he asked the woman to give him a ride to his car. The woman found it kind of strange, considering the size of the parking lot was not that large. She said, sure but explained that she needed to run back in Sams to get one more thing that she had forgotten. She walked back toward Sams noticing that the man was standing next to her car waiting for her to return. She thought this was odd because by the time she went back into Sams to get what she forgot, the man could have walked to his car and been gone before she returned to the parking lot. She immediately went into the store and security. She and the security guard exited the store together. When the man waiting by her car seen the guard walking with the woman, the man ran on foot and then another car picked him up. The man had left his briefcase on the ground next to the womans car. The police was called. When the police arrived they took a look in the briefcase. They found rope, duct tape and a knife in the briefcase. She could have been a victim. The police told the woman to be careful because they believe it is a gang in the area. The womans tire was also punctured with a perfect hole, done with an ice pick.

Here is an article that I would like to share. When I heard this on the news it really touched me.

The night of May 22, 2006, a 51-year-old woman went missing while walking the track at Lafreniere Park. On Tuesday morning her body was found near the park in a gravel lot beaten to death and nude. Edmundo Cerda-Anima is wanted for first-degree murder in connection with her slaying. He's a Mexican national and a construction worker.
Although this has not been linked to gang activity (yet), it is a construction worker here from Kansas due to Hurricane Katrina.
