I'm poor, in college and starting universtiy applications within the next 3 months. Growing up is looming over me, as are all the shows coming up. Apparently November and December make for some very busy venues! So, chances are I will be attending even higher education out of province which means at least an extra 6 grand a year.. which means even though I will be working full time December-September I need to start watching how I spend my cash. Which means that I need to start watching concer… read more

You know what really pisses me off? When people bitch and moan over the fact that they didn't get an encore at a show. What the fuck is that? You went an saw a band you (hopefully) love and respect, you saw them live, in their element, playing music that means something to you and to the artists themselves. Then you go and bitch about how they didn't sing another song? What the fuck? YOU. SAW. THEM. PLAY. ALREADY. Some sets are an hour and a half... that's a long ass time for musicians to s… read more

Ok, so the last.fm shoutbox for Margot & the Nuclear So and So's is telling me that the band split. Their myspace and twitter are all about new songs and recording for a new album. This band better not break up or I am going to hyperventilate. I need to see them live, they need to come to Montreal and not cancel 2 days before the show. Someone better be joking or part of me will die inside. read more

You know what I love about Patrick Watson, other than his (amazing) talent or his super adorable slash crazy giggle? The way that he has such childish glee when he is on stage. This is a musician who absolutely adores what he does for a living. It's infectious, you go see him in concert and you can't help but be entertained and captivated. The only problem that I had with the show was that it was way too short. Well, that and there was too much stuff from Wooden Arms. Call me nostalgic, but I… read more

Well, Vincent Accardi ain't so bad either. I have recently bought myself a ticket to go see Brand New when they come to Montreal on the 20th of November. I don't think that I have ever been so excited to see a concert in my life. I love this band so much. I remember back in the day, by brother was singing "magazines" while loading the dishwasher one night and my curiosity was peaked. I looked into them and was pretty impressed, it wasn't what I normally listened to (oh how times have changed)… read more

You knows that band that you just fall in love with? The one that you know every single word to all the songs, roam the internet to find previously unreleased works and imagine yourself at a show even though the closest venue is 2 days away by train? For me, that was what The Format was. I remember going to Boston back in 2007 and walking into the typical shady music store, 3 floors up in a apartment building with walls of Vinyl records and going directly to the "F" section. I bought nothing f… read more

What is cool about concerts that are in bars is that there is liquor involved. How much more chill can it be after a long horrible weekend at work, to see one of your favourite bands while having a beer? Love it. I'm not really a big fan of Foufoune Electrique as a bar, however I am being more open to it as a venue, well, except the fact that the concert hall is on the 3rd floor and the bathroom is in the basement. It's so tiny, it reminds me of when I saw a show a few years back at Club Soda… read more

Being really sick I missed the Ben Harper show. I am very disapointed in my immune system. So, I just bought my tickets to go see dredg with special guestes Rx Bandits and As Tall As Lions. I don't listen to the other two, I'm in it for an opening band. I tend to do that when I go to shows, I'm not even in them for the main artist. Ska is not my cup of tea, so I don't know what I am planning on doing with myself during their set and I haven't listened to dredg much, only a couple of songs so… read more

I was lucky to catch a few shows this past week, work always ended just early enough. Stevie Wonder gave a free show last week. Suffice to say it was nothing other than incredible. Incredible doesn't even cover it when I think about it. He was on the GM stage and we watched from the Loto-Quebec screens since there were thousands of people everywhere you looked. It rained. A lot. We got there around 8:00pm for the 9:30pm show and hopped a fence, roamed through the crowds and inhaled enough smo… read more

So I spent a couple of days in New York last week. It was pretty great, although I am not sure I would stay in Brooklyn again... sure it's a nice place except the subways don't run at 1am and not too many taxi's wanted to venture into it. There was also a lot of rain but it did not matter, we got wet and danced around on the streets because it was a great vacation. I love NYC and I have found a new favourite restaurant for the next time I go, it is in Little Italy, very quaint. I went to see… read more

Well, I've come to this wonderful site because last.fm has sold its soul to CBS. I refuse to pay for what other countries get free simply because members of their population click on advertisements more often than people of my country. I get I should be used to it though, Canada always gets screwed. Pandora anyone? I've known about this site since I was in the 9th grade but back then I was myspacing it up like all teenagers. Now with facebook not knowing whether it's called Twitter or not..… read more
