Dear MTV:
I am writing to express my concern about what videos you are playing on your TV station. We teens admire bands (singers, rock stars) and will often try to copy or follow how they act and dress. In a lot of the videos you play on your station, the singers -especially the women- are dressed inappropriately. That sends wrong messages to the teen girls who watch your station because it is making them think that in order to be "cool" or "popular" they need to dress like the people in the videos. The girls then might start dressing not how they want to, but how the singers dress to obtain the "popularity" that they think they will receive.
It is also sending wrong images to the guys who watch the videos because it is making them think about women/girls in ways that they shouldnt. A lot of the videos you show on your station(s) are inappropriate and harmful to the youth of this generation. Feeding both guys and girls wrong images and making them think they aren't good enough can lead teens to make poor decisions. I know a lot of teens enjoy watching your station and tune in several hours a week. You have a very powerful tool with your station. Would you consider playing less of the inappropriate videos and more of the positive ones?
