Betrayal

All my life I tried to help others and in return asked for nothing. How can you do so much for someone and then have them betray you. I kept secrets that people wanted others to not know hidden deep down inside and never told a soul, but all my secrets I tell a so called friend always end up in everyone's grasp. I'm tired of loving, caring, and respecting others who don't do the same for me. I just have one question: How can someone betray someone who is always their for them, helps them out when help is needed, lifts their spirits when hearts are broken, and most of all loves them as a person. I don't understand. And I guess I will never because I don't know how to change from caring to non-caring.
