In a row full of glitter

On Saturday the 7th of July 07 I went to Newtown to hear Patrick Wolf. I lined up at the Factory, there were lots of other teenage girls there and a fair few tall guys. I think I was the youngest. While we waited I talked to some of them- they were really open and sparkly. Once let in I got front row and met some Uni girls that were at the show the night before. No one really turned up until the second support act played. It was a shame to see only about 200-300 people there.

He came on stage in sweet little white shoes, blue glittered shorts, a blue and gold jacket, piano key suspenders and so much glitter. While he played glitter kept flying out of his hair. I could see his face the whole time; he has so much power and energy. I felt practically right next to him. It made me feel like I'd never need to be sad again; really I cannot explain how amazing he is in the real. Listening to a cd doesn't compare. He is really made of magic.

The audience was transfixed on him. He asked for requests. And even stopping in the middle of songs and starting and swearing because of his broken ukulele.
He played the magic position and a lot of his old stuff and my favorite on piano, Paris. He also sang this awkward song about his great aunt who was a nun the song started out something like 'who will penetrate her tightening muscles' and everyone started laughing. He kept saying it was a serious song, but he was laughing too.

He announced that he was going to play his last song, it was all silent and by then I still hadn't taken my eyes off him. I was so speechless. He came back for a encore, and did a sex pose right in front of me on the piano, played a few songs and finished.

I got a drink then made my way to the back; the security guards were there and let me through after I explained to them I just had to see Patrick. I went round the back to the exit doors. And waited not too long, this real lovely girl showed me in backstage. She typed the code and unlocked the door for me and my camera. Patrick appeared. I almost died. He is so so tall and made me look very midget I felt ridiculous. We talked a while even though I was speechless I kept saying thank you. So he signed some posters and we got some photos taken in which I look like an idiot.

It was the best night of my life.
