I've been a true metal fan since about April of this year. I started out about a year just listening to a lot of metalcore (The Red Chord, Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying, The Black Dahlia Murder, etc.). Then I moved on after a while to some progressive like Symphony X and Dream Theater. Then on to a good bit of death metal (Behemoth, Cannible Corpse, Goat Whore, etc.). In April, through taking large use of the internet I truly starting getting into metal. Vastly exploring through genres like folk/viking metal, black metal, and power metal, which I'm still doing each day. In this times of searching I also dropped into some European folk music, indie here and there, and quite a bit of post-rock.
So you may see what I listen to regularly:

Albums that I'm most interested in the later months of my school year are: Wintersun, Ensiferum, Mirrorthrone, The Funeral Orchestra, Pain of Salvation, and Asmegin. I've been hearing plenty of band promos and I'm excited to say that the next few metal releases are only going to get better. =D
Recent albums and promos that I've thoroughly enjoyed are: UneXpect - In A Flesh Aquarium, Blind Guardian - A Twist in the Myth, Borknagar - Origins (Promo), Mastodon - Blood Mountain, and Lamb of God - Sacrement. Lamb of God being most noticeable becuase out of all the other albums that I love, I never expected the new LoG to meet that criteria. It's suprisingly good imo.
