Purevolume is the new myspace and there are already whores. It seems they are much younger on here though.
I'm not going to rant about that though. People are cool and I can usually find SOMETHING to talk to anyone about, although if they are one of those people that touts the fact that they don't read...conversations might be slim. Being a fan of any nu metal band also contributes to the loss of conversation.

What is the deal with this whole "paper gangster" thing? All of the sudden hardcore bands are throwing up signs and all these kids are trying to act like gangsters? Scenesters were bad enough...I don't want scene kids that think they are from the ghetto of their suburb. I will knock your flailing ass down. Which brings me to topic number two...or three if the first part counts as one. Hardcore dancing. I recently joined the Coalition To Stop Hardcore Dancing.
I DO NOT hate hardcore dancing because I can't do it, which seems to be the first thing any kid says to me. I know REAL karate so I think I can handle windmilling my arms around and then spin kicking the air. Seriously, your moves aren't even impressive in a general fighting/martial arts standpoint. And don't say it's just supposed to be dancing, because dancing is always evolved from something else and you can't say that punching and kicking isn't derived from fighting.
I'm not against people enjoying themselves and dancing. I am often in a mosh pit. The thing is...going to a show is supposed to be about the band. I don't understand the point of going when you don't even see the band because you are looking at the ground while you punch it. Not only aren't you watching, but you are taking plenty of other attention from the band. Watch any video of kids hardcore dancing. Everyone is watching the kids not the band. The band is often even being ignored (which may be easy to do with the sheer number of shitty generic hardcore bands).
While moshing I am most often singing and watching the band and generally getting into the music and dancing. Even in my craziest moments I still have a sense of the music. Hardcore has only a general bearing on the music, adjusting moves with tempo, but never moving WITH the music. At least I can spaz out and still keep the beat with a fist on my chest or feet on the floor.
I also hate having to worry about being fucking kicked or punched in the head. I shouldn't have to distance myself from wherever the pit is for fear of physical injury. At least in mosh pits, the people on the edge just have to deflect people bouncing around, not worry about flying fists. There are much more productive ways of dancing. Skanking...it goes with the tempo of the music and doesn't fuck people up.
Luckily I don't go to too many shitty hardcore shows, and for now most of the idiocy is still concentrated there, although the 2nd time I saw Fall Out Boy there were idiots punching and kicking and when I saw Thrice some kid tried to spin kick me and ended up flat on his back.
And seriously. When the Moment is playing a song ABOUT how stupid scenesters are and how people think that their look is all that is important, and you are fucking trying to hardcore dance or 2step to it while everyone else is dancing...like REAL dancing. How do you not expect to get your ass knocked around by the incredible duo of Lovejoy and Clay. Bitches.
James and I shall unite. In March at the Chiodos show, scenesters are going down.
