Punk Goes Bilingual
I recently saw this video on IMF (The International Music Feed), which by the way is the best channel in the world for music lovers. The video was of a Mexican band called Allison. i wasn't watching the TV very closely so i just heard the music come on and i thought, "wow, these guys sound good, who is this?" about 25 seconds into the song, the singing started and it was in spanish, i was astonished. i made sure that i caught the name of the band at the end of the video and i immediately added them to my list of favorites. Allison has a purevolume site, it is www.purevolume.com/allisonmx (the "mx" is cuz they're from mexico) give them a listen and enjoy.
The Early November = brilliant
i recently bought "The Mother, The Mechanic, and The Path" and i can honestly say that i have never heard anything like it before in my entire life. One third of the cd "the mechanic" was what i expected to hear on this cd, however, the other two thirds, "The Mother" and "The Path" were steps in a completely different direction for alternative music. The Path expecially is the most original cd that i have ever heard. it is a concept album with an amazing range of musical genres. the genres span from folk to country to blues yet all these different sounds are still noticeably alternative. I don't know if there is a more original album out there right now, if there is then i would like to hear it.
