What Im Listening To...

So, I have been listening to a lot of records lately. And I thought I would share them with you. They're not brand new, just out on shelves records, but they're on heavy roatation in my iPod. So, here they are....

1. Good Old War - Only Way To Be Alone

This record is nothing short of amazing. Three way harmonies, amazing, catchy vocal melodies, time changes, its just a record that has a lot of soul, I love it. Acoustic Folk at its best. I recommend "Coney Island", "Im Not For You" or "Window"

2. Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago

Not many people can say they invented their own sound, but these guys can. Layered vocals, tough song subjects. Its mindblowing. There are so many parts in this album that give me cold chills. Listen to "Blood Bank" or "Skinny Love" and tell me you dont feel it too.

3. Protest The Hero - Fortress

I was already a fan of Protest. Kezia was my favorite album for a year straight. But when I heard "Fortress", I thought my head was going to explode from the overload of bodacious metal. It was like, Kezia ripped me a new asshole. And Fortress picked that asshole up off the ground, and fed it to my face, while being mauled by wilderbeasts and impaled with a severed limb. Rody Walkers voice is amazing. If you thought Kezia was technical, Fortess is that times 10. If you love throat slicing, head rolling metal, listen to this shit! I recommend "The Dissentience", "Sequoia Throne" or "Bloodmeat"

4. Minus The Bear - Acousitcs

I love Minus The Bear. I think they're music is smart and original, and fun. The acoustics album takes some of their songs, strips them down, and makes them sound better than before. The tempo is slower, you can hear more of the dynamics in certain songs, little guitar leads that weren't as noticable in the original sound more defined (Listen to "Knights"). Minus the Bear could shit out a record and make it good, I just wish they did more acoustic stuff, because this, was amazing.

5. Anthony Green - Avalon

I dont need to say much about this record. Its Anthony fucking Green, its not like you dont already know he has the voice of God. So, if you haven't heard it, crawl back under a rock. If you heard it and didnt like it, you're an idiot. I recommend "Stonehearted Man" or "Babygirl"

6. William Fitzsimmons - The Sparrow & The Crow

William Fitzsimmons' 2006 album "Until We Are Ghosts" is still on heavy rotation on my iPod. But TS&TC is definitely gonna take its place. A lot of the same dynamics on this one. The sound is stripped down more, beleive it or not. Lyrically, its amazing. I recommend "You Still Hurt Me" and "Please Forgive Me (The Song Of The Crow)"

7. Drake - So Far Gone

Hip hop is my first love, period. And this album is a distinct representative of what hip hop can become, if people are open to a new sound. The album is filled with 808 like beats that sound like they could be on Kanye's New Album (which is another amazing album btw) Drakes wordplay isnt all that impressive, but he makes up for it with passion and soul. I love this album. Even if you don't like hip hop, you'll like this a lot. I recommend "Lust for Life", "A Little Bit" or "Houstonatlantavegas"

8. P.O.S. - Never Better

P.O.S. is one of my fav lyrical emcees. This album sounds like nothing you've ever heard. I honestly can't compare it anything I've ever heard. His style switches up every song. Dope concepts and beats. The album is filled with punk rock mentality. From the distortion to the out of pitch screaming and gang vocals, it the shit, thats all I can say. I recommend "Drumroll", "Graves (We Wrote The Book)" or "Optimist"

Thats it, until next time.

Pete and Pete

Now, that was an amazing show.
I found the DVD set online, and I am one click away from buying it.

Its 3:30 am and I want to go to sleep, but I wont.
Which is why Im typing and smoking a blunt which is bad for me, I know.

I just got done reading the articles in Rolling Stone on Lil Wayne and Mastodon. Wayne is dissapointing me lately. Mastodon's new album is EPIC.

This post is useless, just writing this to get myself started, writing is my life and I plan to use this often, eventually.

p.s. Ordering my cap and gown tomorrow...
