my name is natalie and i like autumn afternoons and hands and books and green tea and curly hair and bitten nails and pianos and rain and singing and laughter and love and you.
its a little late for an update, but i thought to just add my thoughts on the most amazing concert ever.
manchester orchestra. kevin devine. brand new.
the most amazing trio i have ever heard live. ever.
manchester orchestra started and although i never listened to them before the concert, i fell in love. they played "where have you been?" and it was...euphoric. i stared bawling and just was completely in awe. sarah bought their cd and burned it for me and i can not stop listening to them. at the moment i am listening to "colly strings" and another favorite of mine is "i can feel your pain." wow. their lyrics are so...raw. and real. oh man.
then gingerkid kevin played. and hes adorable! and soo talented. he played "just stay" which is one of my favorites and it was just amazing. then him and MO and BN played neutral milk hotels "holland, 1844" and kevin and jesse played "cotton crush" and it was just...wow. amazing.
then brand new. i can not even describe how absoloutely amazing they were. they played all of "deja entendu" which included "they boy who blocked his own shot" (nellies favorite song) and "play crack the sky" (our talent show song!). i was crying during both of those songs. yes, im pretty emotional. haha. then they played some of their new stuff and their old stuff and they played "jesus christ" and jesus christ...it was amazing. it reminds me of this one moment in time and every time i hear the song i am transported back into that moment in my memory and it just made me incredably sad but happy also. overall, the concert was great. wow. unbelieveable.
after the concert, nellie, sarah, and i were fortunate enough to meet jesse lacey. and let me tell you, that man is the nicest person i have ever met. we told him we were doing "play crack the sky" for our talent show at school, and he actually took his time to show sarah the cords and how to play it. wow. he talked with us about art and music and the meanings of his lyrics. then he told sarah that when he gets nervous at concerts, he blanks out everyone else and focuses on a few people and sings to them. and she was one of those people he was singing to! oh man. we talked to him for at least a half hour or so. then it was time for us to go and jesse told us to send in a video of our show so we will do that and yeah. awesome.
but now i need to go and do some homework or whatever.
au revoir.

OH MY LORD.
the other night my best friend and i went to the death cab for cutie concert. it was absoloutely amazing. we managed to snag 2nd row, and had a very good view. =) they played my favorite song of all time, "transatlanticism", and it was really amazing hearing live, although i already have, 2 years ago. they played some older stuff, which was nice, but also chose to include a few songs from "plans". it was one night i will never forget.
