Pasta-Induced Ranting...

Posted August 22, 2008

Okay...I'm not sure if everyone has heard about it, but supposedly there is some sort of cult thing going on about The Flying Spaghetti Monster. Basically, it is like a play on Christianity...only with a Spaghetti Monster. I don't make it a point to make fun of or criticize people's religions and whatnot, but for some reason, this one really bothered me.

Especially when a friend of mine ran up to me this morning and screamed, "Religion!" at me and threw a flyer at me with info about the thing on it.

I mean, she is atheist...but if she was going to say that God does not exist, then why accept a belief about a gi-normous pasta version of Him? You don't have to scream religion at people, especially if you claim it doesn't exist...I hate it when people try and shove things down my throat. I mean really, is that how religion is supposed to be spread? For Christianity, the Word is supposed to be spread in a compassionate manner. Also, is it really necessary for those who openly mock religion to go and create one of their own? If they feel the need to fabricate some sort of corrupted religion that makes fun of all known religions, then obviously they have to know deep down that something is missing.

Am I the only one hearing about this [randomly]?

And why does it have to be pasta?

Wow, a spaghetti monster religion thats stupid as hell.
this is the first i've heard about it and i find it
very insulting to Christianity. i agree with the dude
below me, that person does deserve getting kicked.

tracycakkes!

I heard about FSM a while ago, but i totally get the
point of it. It was created a man trying to opposed
the teaching creationism instead of evolution. That
concept was to be introduced into public schools as
well as Catholic, i believe in Kansas. At first, FSM
was as an example to support his opinion of how
ludicrous that act would be, but eventually flourished
into a complete "religion". The point FSM is now all
about is "if according to Christianity, we were created
by some sort of invisible and ghostly yet, all-mighty
figure, then why couldn't we have been created by
pasta?" From a completely unbiased point of view (not
mine), both ideas could be equally stupid.

taking you to the edge and back...

hmm, i don't mock religion, i just tend to get into
arguments about the validity of a supposed god...a
pasta god is stupid, and that person should be
kicked...if god is willing to prevent evil, but not
able, then he is not omnipotent. if he is able but not
willing, then he is malevolent. if he is both able and
willing, then whence cometh evil? if he is neither able
nor willing, then why call him god? that pretty
much sums up how i feel, no offense on your religion or
anything

This is the first time I ever heard of sucha pointless,
heinous, stupid thing like that. A pasta God? It is so
weird that people are so hopless that they have nothing
to belive in, and so instead of having a beautiful,
understanding, comprhending, gracious, peacful,
powerful God to depend on, they think of something like
this. Are they kidding? Wow, I am awestruck, I don't
want to rant though, I don't want to complain, I don't
want to shove people to Christianity, but God needs NO
defenders, he needs whitnesses. I love him, and I will
pray that these kinds of things don't end up what this
world will become. What has this world come to? I
guess, all we could do is hope and pray for these
things to stop. It is absolutly redictulous! :/

Wow, damn... First, This is the first time i've heard
about it... Second, i think it's because pasta is a
staple food, one that we all recognize... so it was
kinda in front of the line... And Finally, I'm a
atheist, but it still kinda pisses me off when people
do shit to mock Religion... Just because someone
believe it, doesn't mean i have to... But the same
works in reverse... I do agree with the fact that if
they feel the need to make a religion then they
OBVIOUSLY must be either completely naive, or childish
in the sense that they don't recognize that they
actually do follow a certain faith...
