What's up Everyone! My name is Bob and i'm from Orange County California. I am the newest member of the Fearless Records staff and I couldn't ask for a more amazing job. On my off-time I play guitar and write music for SSnoVa (www.purevolume.com/ssnova) and am a partner in a clothing company called Lions Creative Apparel (www.lionscreativeapparel.com). I'm also going to school at University of Phoenix because I am a firm believer that education should never end whether your working or not. (Plus I want my bachelors degree!!)

SSNOVA - Self Titled Album out January 2007 on Pinky Ring Records

DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince say get into Purevolume.com!!!

I booked this awesome rock show, come check it out!!!

Below is an awesome "rant" that I stumbled upon at the Kings of A&R website.
The Broken Music Scene
Trends come and go. I know that may seem obvious, but it appears not everyone is getting the and go part. With most genre originators moving on to greener pastures (or dissolving completely), labels seem to be clutching to the past as they search for their replacements. Pop punk and hardcore ran their course and those artists have moved on. So why does it look like labels are snatching up pop punk bands like its 1999?
Band X sells alot of records. Band Y sounds almost identical to Band X, therefore, Band Y should sell. Interesting logic, and actually that would probably be a decent plan if it werent for Bands A through W, who Band X ripped off. How many copies of the same record can people really be expected to own? Unfortunately for the labels, theyre left with little choice. Anyone who takes a gander at the endless supply of mediocre music on MySpace can tell you- thats all there is. Band after band emulating their heroes rather than just appreciating them. You really cant blame anyone but the bands. They own the records theyre copying, so of course they know what they are doing isnt original. What baffles me is that these bands know they arent original. They know they are treading well-worn territory. They know that the artists they look up to so much have even changed their sound to try and escape the clone army and the supersaturation of the genre they helped create. These kids must know that they bring practically nothing to the table, and yet they still have the nerve to send out demos.
Of course, I understand wanting to chase the rockstar dream, but since when is it more gratifying to make it as a completely unoriginal joke of a band instead of an innovator that carves out their own place in the history books? Perhaps weve made it look too easy. Perhaps the music industry being shrouded in secrecy was a good thing. Perhaps people should stop feeling bad for telling someone they suck and should get out of this business. Simon Cowell is onto something. Pull no punches and leave no delusions. Either they have it or they dont and 99% of them dont.
If any of you all have any questions/comments/or suggestions for Purevolume you can either submit them formally through the website or hit me up on here. I also have a screen name that you can reach me on (Bobpurevolume). I'm here to be your voice and help out, let me know what I can do! =) - Bob
Orange County band SSNOVA will begin pre-production with producer Shaun Lopez (Deftones/Revolution Smile) this weekend in Los Angeles. The EP will have 5-6 songs and should have a release date set shortly on Pinky Ring Records. The style of SSNOVA's music is unique to what is the norm of Orange County, drawing much more influence from the Sacramento/Northern California music scene.
Working with Shaun Lopez is exciting as he understand's our musical vision and can help us create the best final product. Some wonder why the band hasn't played shows, but have no worry as when we are done recording we should be jumping on select dates. By no means are we going to be playing every weekend, or even a few times a month as we want each show to be special and something to look forward to. I'm thinking we'll be writing the full length by a release next summer. - Bob
I would have to say the "My Music Player" on Purevolume is the coolest thing ever! When i'm getting ready to do some homework i just throw this on and it plays some great music that I might or might not have on my Itunes collection. This is great even for folks who don't have an extensive Itunes collection or is using a laptop like myself (away from my main comp). Anyways, I love it. Now back to homework....
This is about my 3rd week working for Purevolume and things are going absolutely amazing so far. I'm working hard to understand every element of the website fully while finding fresh and new talented bands. On my off-time, my band SSnoVa has been finishing up pre-production and last minute writing for our debut EP. We are teaming up with the one and only Shaun Lopez (Far/Rev Smile) to produce this outing. He also helped bring production duties to the new Deftones record, which so far sounds phenominal. On the apparel side of things, the clothing company (Lions Creative Apparel) is about to be picked up by 3 stores and could possibly be locking a deal with a huge retailer soon. I'll keep you all informed for these are very exciting times! =)
