Emo

Posted June 23, 2007

This will probably be the only other time I ever post a blog on here again, Ever. But all of the emo discussions frustrate me. There are just so many stereo-types about emos and I don't really think any of them have to be true. Maybe a lot of them are cutters and maybe a lot of them are slightly depressed, but I don't think that that is what defines Emo. To me, Emo is a way of dress, an attitude/feeling, and a type of music. I don't think you have to be a cutter to be Emo. I don't even think that you have to be completely depressed. Just feeling a little down once in a while and maybe showing it a little more than other people is perfectly fine. I'm not even technically emo, and I take offense to all of the things that ignorant people say. I do admit to borrowing a few articles of clothing from the Emo way of dress, but I basically borrow from every style there is, I wear what I wear. But if today was a day when I looked more emo, and maybe it was a bad day (which everyone has) so I look a little down, there would be a lot of people who would see me and immediatly include me in the Emo category and also probably assume that I was a cutter. And that just makes me so angry. So for all you stupid people out there who do that, take the time to get to know them before you judge them, or don't get to know them, but if you don't: don't jump to conclusions.
