REVIEW: Rendezvous With The Kidnappers **additional input

Posted February 6, 2007

Okay, so i got this random mail asking me to check out Rendezvous With The Kidnappers. At first i was like 'uhhh....' but then it got MUCHAS better. aw heck, just read my review.

**Note: my reviews are more of just notes as to the vibe i get when i listen to the band. i write it as i listen, so my opinion may change from the top of the review to the bottom. i can write a real review later if i find free time, which, WARNING, never happens.

Here's an intial reaction to what i felt:

I really enjoyed the intro to "Smile Like A Shark"- it was tastefully done. Though I have to say the intro for 'Magnumouth' was a bit drawn out.

I like the sound, it has good potential. I think with a little more work on the vocals, this band could go places. I liked the effort for harmonies in 'Magnumouth', but it seemed like it could have used a little more rehearsing,

I like the height of the vocals- Im not really fond of high vocals, but this was well done. Just a little work on keeping the songs systematic (The same rhythm throughout. the range was a little much and i got lost at points There was too much fancy stuff going on in some songs. Sometimes keeping it simple makes a song easier for the listener to follow..) and it would be great.

I like the raw quality of the vocals, though-it adds character. Character is what makes a band special.
I really liked most of the songs- they had a unique sound that isnt heard very often. The only thing that threw me off was the slightly off-kilter vocals of 'Magnumouth'. Other than that, I have to say I really enjoyed listening to the music. I was especially fond of 'The End of the World Club'.

I think this band would make a great live sound. I'm getting the vibe that they sound best in front of a crowd as opposed to in a studio. the vocalist seems like he would be gnarly on stage.

best of all though, the instrumental part was pretty damn good. Keep up the great stuff there.

Whatever you guys are doing, it's working.

Good luck, hope this helped.
