i believe that music can set the tone for any moment. it can underscore something beautiful or cast a foreboding shadow, all with just a few notes. it's infinite, and anything but finite. it ebbs and flows, dips and sways, until finally it reverberates in your ears in the most perfect fashion, completely quintessential to the moment at hand. you're sitting outside a car, listening to the stereo pulse between you and the other side of infinity. it's colder than it ought to be in march, and it's funny how a song seems perfect when you're with that person. you know, that person that makes your heart beat faster and your world seem brighter, and when you listen to that song by yourself, it just never seems the same.

so there you sit, musing in the moonlight. alone. and you wonder if you can ever get back those few seconds, the ones that made your life seem to matter more than anything else ever could. a tear is shed. but you're not sad. no, you're every other emotion. sadness is not possible because you can't look back on those few seconds with anything but fondness; remembering the happiness you once felt keeps your heart from breaking every time you hear that song. you know, the song that used to make your heart beat faster and your world seem brighter. and you can't believe you let that person you used to share it with slip through your fingers. because now you're crying for no reason at all, and nothing seems the same.
