High Grade Hit
I think we're on a bit of a roll, fellow Arkadians. Today we received some spectacular news from MuchMusic - our smokin' hot brand new video for Sweatshop Union's "High Grade" is going in at HEAVY rotation at MuchVibe and MEDIUM rotation at MuchMusic. This is Arkadia's second (and even more successful) video for one of Canada's greatest ever rap groups, who just happen to be full of intelligent, socially-conscious lyrics, and beats to die for. This ultra-colourful video for Sweatshop Union becomes Stephano Barberis' 32nd hit at MuchMusic alone, and has the band shot from a crane looking down as they are pulled along a parking lot by two men. This becomes yet another unique jewel in the crown for Arkadia, who have come to be known for groundbreaking and eyecatching videos. An extra-special thanks goes out to everyone at VideoFACT. You can watch this vanguard video starting next week on MuchMusic and their sister stations across the country.
The Hit Parade Continues
We thought we would send all you musicvideo-istas a super-quick note to tell you that Arkadia has served up yet another hot hot hit on your television griddle. Coming in the form of The Higgins' spectacular "Second Hand Car," this video becomes director Stephano Barberis' 36th top 20 hit (not that we're counting) at CMT alone.

It is with great pleasure, fellow Arkadians (and Arkadianites/ Arkadianoids/ ArkPeople/ LoversOfGreatFilmians etc), that we reveal to you our latest endeavour – the new music video for “Second Hand Car.” People in the know (that’s you all) are already pumped about Canada’s biggest new magically melodic supergroup, The Higgins. This being their third single and video, we decided to veer into a completely new direction and explore territory that involves racism and classism in Canada. A Christian girl must face her parents to tell them she is leaving home to start a new life with a Native boy.
The Hit Parade Continues
Greetings fellow Arkadians. Today we send out a short but sweet note to inform you that we are racking up a few more hits, thanks to you sweet folks. With no less than four videos charting at CMT currently, Stephano hits some more milestones. This week, the director scores his 28th Top Ten hit at CMT with The Higgins' spectacular "Real Thing" video, and his 19th Top Five on that same channel with Gord Bamford's supersensual video "Postcard From Pasadena."
Stephano Wins Music Video Director Award For The 10th Consecutive Year
For the 10th consecutive year, Arkadia Pictures director Stephano Barberis has won the Video Of The Year award at last night’s British Columbia Country Music Association (BCCMA) awards held at the Red Robinson Theatre in Coquitlam, BC. With three video nominations out of five for that very award, the director ended up winning for The Higgins’ “Flower Child” video. “Flower Child” features the band (who swept six categories last night) amongst rustic landscapes and dilapidated rural structures, with some pyrotechnics thrown in for good measure. This makes Barberis the recipient of 35 nominations for Director Of The Year from organisations ranging from MuchMusic to the Leo’s. Last month, Stephano won the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) award for the second consecutive year in Winnipeg, Manitoba bringing his total wins to 14 - making him one of the most successful music video directors in Canadian history.
