howdy. i'm some guy out in the middle of nowhere, better known as iowa, forget that i live in a college town. that's still the middle of nowhere. especially when i don't care for the hometeam. my friends and i make movies for the enjoyment of the internet. i like peanut butter. i like chocolate. have you ever had peanut butter oreos? they're delish! i enjoy the small things in life. i live for memories. and music. mainly music though. but music and memories are intertwined in so many amazing ways. did i mention you seem cool if you read this? well yeah. by the way, you seem pretty cool for reading this. kthxbye.
Well, on October 6th was the University of Iowa homecoming parade, immediately followed by a concert at on the Pentacrest (the Old Capitol front lawn actually) by Guster and Kansas. The U of I student council forked over the cash to make it a FREE show! Having never previously heard of Guster I was hesitant to wait through them to listen to Kansas. But I found out that Guster is really an uber schweet band. Kansas, on the other hand, was surprisingly lame. Quite a buzz-kill. I didn't even stick around to watch all of Kansas, let alone more than the whole of their first song, which I didn't recognize.
Instead of listening to Kansas, I went to Taco Bell. And some guy bitched that my friend and I should never work there if we're ever looking for part-time jobs. Go work at someplace like K-Mart. (His exact words, except there was a huge pause between "like" and "K-Mart".)
Okay, just so it doesn't say "erish has had a seemingly uneventful life and thus hasn't posted any blogs yet" I'm writing this.
My Concert Updates:
*Early in July I went to Cedar Rapids and saw Bowling for Soup with openned brilliantly by, one of my top favorite bands now, Pittsburg, PA's very own Punchline.
*On August 18th I went and saw Red and the Eds open for Harvey and it was really sweet. Red and the Eds as well as Harvey's members all are still in high school and kick it more than some professional bands.
*Then yesterday at the Regina FFF I caught a short glimpse and heard, over who I was talking to on my phone, Hairline Fracture. I'm really wondering how they got onto the cover of Rolling Stone. Not that they're not good, really good, rather. But I mean, it's Iowa. How does a local Iowa band get on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine? Still cool, none-the-less.
And that concludes my concert updates.
