Well i didnt think i would ever do something like this. im usually in person a little bitter and cynical, does that make me realistic? but actually i enjoy helping people, i am fortunate, i am grateful, and i believe the best gift of giving is to give oneself and become selfless. when we can put the needs of others before ourselves, i believe the world will become just maybe a little more compassionate. well i think i should get to the point of this blog instead of ranting about my views of life. i am going to russia for 4 weeks starting july 12th to august 8th. i am going with cross cultural solutions, its social work. honestly i dont know what made me choose this. all i know was that in my mind, i needed to do something. i needed to remind myself that helping others is a good thing. i choose russia for two reasons, one because my mom didnt approve of thailand and two, because helping like around locally, is just as important as helping a different area. it might not be local, but is an invisible line that decides where this country starts and another ends really justify that a person is different once he or she crosses that line? no. i chose to go to russia to volunteer there because its far away. i want to get away and realize what life is like over there. what people go through over there. now dont get me wrong, im not saying this place is like a bad place, and i am not picking on russia, im actually picking on the world. some people can go their whole lives without leaveing the "country" they were born in. knowing only one culture. ya america got alot. but just because you go to koreatown in LA doesnt mean that you have been to korea. you need to go there. you need to understand what it is like there. thats what i want to do, thats why i am going. wish me luck? i dont need it. im still on the planet haha, just in another area, another cultural.

Capital O bama

Hey every one, i just wanted to let you all know that i will be on less, if at all, this next week until the 23rd of january. I am going with a silly "hurray america" group to see Obama get inaugurated in Washington DC. I'm going to try my vary hardest to get online but if not it will be through my iPhones internet and that is really slow but ya i will try, im sure you will understand and thank you. -Alex
