every fifteen minutes

every fifteen minutes somebody dies in a drug/ alcohol related car accident.
it could be someone you know.... or somebody you have no connection with whatsoever, but whoever it is you know it impacts everyone in there lives.
my school put on the every fifteen minutes program presentation yesterday and today to show us just how real this is.
even though it is just a simulation it hit me... hard.
i knew the people in the cars. i knew the boy being zipped up in a body bag and put in the back of the coroners van. i knew the girl that was stuck in the car, i watched as they used the jaws of life to get her and her friend out. i knew the guy they had to life flight out to the hospital.
i wasnt best friends with them. some of them i had never even had a full on conversation. but i had seen them in passing. or i knew a friend of theirs. or i knew there boy/girlfriend.
it didnt matter how i was connected to them, but just the fact that i knew them made it all the more real. i realized, this could happen to me. i could die in a car crash, or i could cause a crash, just because of one poor decision.
you make the choice to drive under the influence, but what you may not realize is it could affect more then just you.
it could affect your family, your friends, or total strangers. but when you get behind that wheel after drinking you know it will affect somebody.
its your choice.
make the right one.
