Wow. Where to start. First, if you haven't heard of Dr Manhattan, they are an alternative/indie/electro band from Illinois who named their band after the character in the Watchmen comics. They were signed to Vagrant Records for their first full-length album, Dr Manhattan, which I also recommend :) After being dropped from Vagrant they got a little tired, fell asleep and had a dream, a Jam Dream. Although Jam Dreams doesn't have the big record company to support, it doesn't mean that it is a bad album. Jam Dreams is full of dancing, catchy riffs, and Jams. Let's start with the album opener, "Electramatized" - this song has so much energy and makes for a great opening track, it just makes you want to dance like a maniac. The second track, "Texas" - your classic end-of-a-relationship song that refuses to disappoint, great song. "After All" - starts all mellow and slowly builds into a sweet make-you-wanna-move song, definitely one of my favorite tracks on the album. "Mailman" - this is song is absolutely amazing, has the greatest end jam of all the songs on the album, they closed with this song when I saw them. "I'm High" - Great song, more of a chill song, love the keys on this song. "Cowgirl" - I love this song, it reminds me of "Tracey's Buns" off their first album, sweet acoustic, great lyrics. "Misses Steward" - this song reminds me of the Beastie Boys, has a great hook, very catchy. "Biscuits And Groovy" - this song goes up and down, love the transitions, I AM A ZOMBIE! "Listen Up" - this song makes me feel like I'm at a genuine house show, love the punk feeling. "Man With A Woman's Chest" - great chorus and bridge, lyrics are totally awesome :) "Hard Time" - love the faster singing parts and great yelling/screaming on this song. "Camping Ground" - best dance song on the album, great closer for the album. Overall album 4.5/5, very original, possibly the most original band I know. Only one problem, I didn't even know Dr Manhattan had released this album until the day of their show, some promotion would have been nice, this is probably due to their lack of major label, but more band promotion would have worked at least for the fans. Dr Manhattan puts on one of the best live performances I have ever seen. I have never seen a band have more fun on stage than D-Man. Sound is great. Band involvement with songs is superb. I had a Jam Dream and Dr Manhattan fulfilled my dreams with a performance that shocked, rocked and rolled me every which way there and back again and an album that pleasured my ears until my legs hurt from satisfaction. And after all we've been through I am in still in love with you, Dr Manhattan and everyone should check 'em out! Quickly now, you took all the time to read this, you might as well :)
