Ok so, there is a song that plays at my work that really annoys me. The reason is because of one line in the song that says "goodbye my almost lover". What EXACTLY is an ALMOST lover? I mean when i think of a lover i think of like a boyfriend or someone along those lines. But would that make an almost lover an almost boyfriend? If thats the case then why on earth would you write a song about an almost boyfriend?! grrr if anyone has an opinion please let me know

almost lovers are people who love as a friend and that
only. even if you feel differently about them. it will
tear you up inside to be so close to someone yet so
very far away from them. Experiance shows never confuse
friends with lovers/almost lovers cause it never ends
well for one or both parties.

I believe an almost lover is the person you believed
you could spend forever with but somehow they don't
realize that. The problem with almost lovers is that
they are usually the ones you fall for the most and
fall for the hardest. But an almost lover will always
let you down because they are exactly that, an almost
lover. and they will never be more than that. i hate
almost lovers.
