Having received a degree in music education and a certificate in vocal performance from the Crane School of Music, Lucas Adam Rau fuses depth, artistry, and creativity in his musical performances. Currently serving his fifth year teaching piano at Middletown High School in New York, Rau has made a name for himself throughout the community. He serves as musical director for the Middletown Concert Chorale and was one of the founding members of the Zephyr Vocal Ensemble out of New Jersey. During his undergraduate studies at the Crane School, Rau served as music director to the University's a cappella ensemble, The Potsdam Pointercounts, leading the group to their first victory at the International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella. As a classical singer, Rau has made appearances around the country. In 2007 he was accepted as a vocal apprentice at the Berkshire Choral Festival in Massachusetts, and for consecutive summers traveled to New Mexico to perform with the acclaimed Santa Fe Desert Chorale. Over the past year, Rau has received two vocal fellowships from New York City's choral ensemble, Essential Voices USA (EVUSA), who frequently shares the stage with the New York Pops, and sang the baritone solo during the group's performance of Bernstein's Chichester Psalms in New York's Symphony Space. Rau is currently working on a pop-punk cover project, akin to the style of Me First and the Gimme Gimme's, and frequently performs around Orange County, NY with the band or as a solo act. Rau is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree through Boston University.
