The Lacuna is a Kenyan born rapper. He is into alternative, experimental hip-hop. He says, “my music is a reflection of who I was, who I am, and who I want to be and be with." He is presently involved in recording his first debut LP album. Going against the hip-hop mix tape-concept, he is set to focus on commercial music at the moment. Quoting Friedrich Nietzsche, “only sick music makes money.” His first release, the single "Fly Away" is a blend of house-progressive and hip-hop music. He is set to launch "Fly Away" on digital platform on June. This will be followed by online marketing. This will be available for digital downloading______ Born in June 14TH, 1993. Lacuna's musical journey started in high school. Born in a family of four siblings he admits he was greatly influenced by his big brother; Bob who runs the brand and blog, tHEBRGKENYAN. "If it wasn't for him (Bob) maybe I would never, I think, be into art this much", he says. He is currently a student at Multimedia University, studying Bsc. Computer Technology. When not doing music he is involved in painting, writing and spending time with friends. Asked to describe himself he says, “I am an observer.” Lacuna is recording at Replay Studios, Nairobi. Owned and managed by friend and colleague; Kim, who is also Lacuna's producer. Since August, 2011 Lacuna has been doing studio projects, whilst looking for a definitive sound. Amongst his biggest inspirations are; Jay-z, Ray Charles, Nina Simone, Slum Village and Greek philosophy. He is set for multiple single releases, followed by an EP (mix tape) on August to mark his anniversary since hitting the studio.
