The Wood. Chapter 7

So thus the creature, the being, the unexplained, he stood before Gavin, hovering. His bulging body masking the small thin figure of Gavin. Gavin just stares in awe at his love, she is encased in a bubble of sorts, on the ground, shrouded in fire and flames. Her eyes for once not gazing into his. Unconscious, Gavin’s worst nightmare. “What am I to do? You want me to leave her, but this…this is unacceptable. There is no way I could do that. Her soul is mine her heart is mine, they are one, and they are not to be separated. If you cut off one from the other they will both die. So no…I’m not leaving her, I love her.” “I realize you do, boy, but you must know it is something I have to do. Your being together means the end of the world.” Gavin, still staring at Mirabelle, laying quietly in her bubble, “I still don’t get it…why us? Why is the fate of humans, lying on our hands?” “Hahaha…well now, it is still something your weak mind cannot understand. The difference is your mind has emotion, my mind does not. My mission is to seek out these emotions and remove them, you’re the last true source of love, true love, in the universe. My brothers, the betrayers, they still have yet to learn this quality, its far to advanced even for their expanding minds. So yes to remove this quality from the face of the universe is my goal, you can be immortal, my son, who needs this puny quality of love holding you back from that?” Having yet to remove his face from the direction of his heart on the surface of the planet, Gavin sighs, “I cant accept. My fate, be it death or not, is with Mirabelle. So kill me if you can sir, but you’ll never keep me from her. And I’m sure she feels the same. I hope.” “You hope? She has no idea? Hahaha…so how do you know its this emotion, this love? Cause its there, I can feel the energy, and I must remove it, but before I kill you, my curiosity has been aroused, so go on.” For the first time in awhile, Gavin turns to face the being, “I just know ok?! I just told you earlier…its just something you feel and know, a special connection. So listen I’m done talking…I want to be with her.” “Hmm…I see. You want to be with her? I’m afraid I cant do that. You know that.” “What?! NO! I must die with her, I cant just die alone like this!” “I’m afraid so, son. Don’t worry, its an honorable death, you will be remembered.” “No! I cant please! Too much has happened to me already! Let me have this, just something for me to die by, just one last thing.” The being turned his gaze to a distant star, now shining rather brightly, contemplating whether it would be a problem to let this boy have his wish. He could feel the energy levels of these two rising rapidly. “She must be waking.” he thought. Gavin felt it too, and immediately his gaze turned to his second half laying on the ground moaning as she awoke slowly. “MIRABELLE!!!”, Gavin yelled, his lungs collapsing immediately as the being grasped them using his powers. This invisible force caught him, vocally and physically he was stuck. Against all his efforts it restrained him. “Where do you think your going?” The being spoke though in a hesitant manner. “If anyone lets you go, its me, not yourself. Your under my control at the moment, not your own.” Gavin yelped and pleaded, “Please I beg of you! Just this one last thing, just let me be with her when we die!” “You have nothing to offer me, your powers are useless, and you have nothing left but your life, which lets face it, isn’t going to be and never was much. But…I see nothing wrong with it really, as long as nothing unexpected happens, you should be fine, as should I. Well…go ahead, go sown there. I shall warn you when you have no time left.” A look of sad relief came to Gavin’s face. Mumbling words, “Thank you…” he was gradually placed beside her. The bubble fading and finally just disappearing all together, Gavin bent next to his brown haired wonder. She hazily stared back at him, and he smiled through the streak of tears that rolled across his dirt and ash clad face. “So are you ok baby?…I’m just glad your awake.” Mirabelle groaned and leaned forward to talk to Gavin, “Been better…hahaha.” And she just laughed nervously, “So what is happening to us?” “Everything is going to be fine…but he is going to kill us.” He looked up at the being who in the very far distance in the sky, looked down on them. “But, its to save everyone…I wish I had more time to explain, but if we don’t do this, everyone else in the world shall die. Plus, it was either this or we die separated, which I couldn’t bare.” Mirabelle, seemed to understand, oddly enough. Perhaps it was her horrid life, her pain that should resumed everyday of her life, that caused her to not care, to not show any emotion when hearing she must die. For this, maybe it was for him, maybe she just felt like if she had to die, it would be with him. She loved him. Hopefully he knows, she thought, but if she had to die it would be with him. “Mirabelle, I just had to be with you when I die, cause…well cause I love you. I hope you feel the same constant and pounding energy that feeds my heart and body when I’m near you?! But even if you don’t, I still do…I will always be there for you, even through death , as you can see. So before we die…” Gavin leaned in to the blank face of Mirabelle, who could do nothing but take this all in, and placed his shaking and warm lips on hers, and together the folded there love. Their love wrapped its thick coat of throbbing energy around them as one. Their love was separate and weak, but now, as one, it was unstoppable. This however did not go unnoticed.

The Wood. Chapter 6

My eyes look at this poor soul, ha! But another useless tool. Hmm…perhaps I should break the news to him, or shall I not, ha! Its my decision and I enjoy it greatly, no more can my brothers tell me wrong, they have no right to! What an ugly creature, I must say, I’ve been to many planets, many galaxies, but this certainly tops most. Such crude and hideous features. Humans I’m told they are called. Well, I’ll give them some credit, at least their planet anyway…it doesn’t give up without a fight, when I was pulling at that pond, I could feel the energies retracting from my body, the “Earth” as they call it, was pulling against me. It was all I could do to stand up. Nevertheless, I have conducted a way of getting rid of this planet, hopefully, before my brothers arrive to find me. I know this one before me is curious. “Young one…I’m afraid you have no hope.” I said. “What?! Where…huhuh…did she go?!!” He was panting and uncontrollably out of breath, but I told him anyway. “You must get up.” “Why!? You going to kill me?” “No, I’m not, young one.” “Then what do you call what just happened?!” “Hmm…that would be negotiations, I could not have gotten you to talk, simply by asking you to listen.” This retched boy was the one thing that keep me from ruling. I must not kill him, but I have to take him away from her. There is a connecting, a bond, a strong one, like the Earth to its core, and that, the latter, I have felt, and it is strong. All of these is for her. She must be separated. “You see my boy, you cannot go on with her. She is you downfall, and the fate of your race and all of humankind is up to you. You can decide to stay with her, fine, then all of Earth shall be destroyed, and every last human, incinerated. Or, you can do what is right, and save everyone, by immediately being separated from…her, this girl you have some sort of bond with.” I thought I was thorough, but this thing didn’t understand any of what I just said, obviously, cause he went with the worst choice. “I want to see her! The way I feel for her, its something you‘ll never understand!” “Hmm…complicated youth, are we? Well then, it seems that you have chosen the worst possible way, we means, I must ignore your wishes and carry out what I wanted in the first place!” “Huh?! No! I want to see her right now!” “Afraid not, young one. You are coming with me.” I reached out to get him and he pulled back, naturally. “But, your made of a giant blue flame! There is no way your carrying me!” “Hahaha, silly boy, you have no idea what I really look like. I’m afraid that what you really see, is actually just your own perception of me. To be honest, I don’t even know what I look like, I look like so many different things to many people, I have forgotten myself. Thousands of years, and I still don’t know, hmm…interesting, well, lets go.” “No…I just cant, you don’t understand…I…I love her.” “Love?…explain young one.” “Are you kidding!? You don’t what that means…well I guess even most of us really cant describe it, but I guess…well…love is more than just a feeling you get, its knowing how the other person looks at you, and kind of like you were saying, their perception of you. It’s a bond, an attraction. They like their perception of you, and they are compelled to get to know you. Once they know you…and spend time with you and get closer to you…you become one. You know all of that persons ups and downs, their likes and dislikes, their funny traits and habits, everything. Love is something only those loving can understand, and no two loves are ever alike. You understand?” Interesting, so it is one of these fabled emotions, just as I suspected. A lie and a trap of the body, ugh…my brothers were the last of are kind to practice those, and I cant stand them. They detract from true, pure power. Hmph…this is pitiful. “Emotions…that’s what love is. You cant fool me young one. I know what those are, I'm done with this pretending, your coming with me, right now!!” I grab the ugly boy. He was squirming in every possible way, I couldn’t stand it! “Stop it let me go!!!” He was yelling. Then he stopped about halfway through the first layer of Earths atmosphere. I looked at him to see what calmed him. He was staring directly at the ground. I looked back…oh! It was the protective blue bubble I put around her. She was there curled up perfectly. The fire whipping around the bubble. Looking back at the boy, I saw, understanding, calm…and love. He was willing to go as long as she was ok…he knew what he was doing. I realized then, I wasn’t doing anything…I couldn’t stop this bond between them, for it was invisible, it was eternal, dwelling deep inside, and it was forever.

The Wood. Chapter 5

Sweat running down their faces, and feet sore from treading the ground at such a fast pace. Their excitement levels escalating to an all time, suspenseful, high. Questions, shrouded in dark mystery as to what the light came from. The brush beating their faces, and the night, for once, and in rare opportunity, was dead quiet, as if nothing existed. The pond had to be maybe a few hundred yards away. “I believe we are almost there.” Gavin’s hand clasped firmly in Mirabelle’s, and wouldn’t let go for anything, especially at how fast they were running. “Good, cause I’m losing my breath…huh, huh, guh.” Panting and uncontrollably allowing the air from inside her to escape, Mirabelle, was determined to reach the pond as well, for her curiosity spurred her forward, even though she could pass out at any moment. Complete stop. As if to build the excitement level even more, Gavin, playfully, and quietly, not to mention slowly, pulled back the giant ivy wall that surrounded the enclosed pond. “Ladies first m’dear.” “Well thanks, but in this instance, you can go first, I don’t mind…he he.” She replied, sarcastically. At first glance, the pond was still the same, undisturbed, and untouched. Gavin, looking around, couldn’t really see anything, his vision not accustom to the unusually darkness that shrouded the pond. “Who is that?” Mirabelle whispered, and Gavin turned to the direction her finger pointed. There, at the farthest edge of the pond, arms dipped in the water, and head staring into it, was a shadowy figure. Then it stood up, looking in their direction, and waved them to it. Looking at each other and then back to the figure, they edged themselves over there slowly and nervously. “Dad?!” She said as they got closer, and then she stopped. “No…I cant. No further shall I go. This is where I stop Gavin.” “What are you doing here, sir!!??” You have no right to be here or to be with her anymore!” Gavin screamed, and her dad did move, and his expression didn’t change at all, instead he turned to the pond. “Lets go Hun…we don’t need to stay here, we kind find what the source of that glow was later.” Gavin said, nudging her back toward the exit. She stared back at her father as she continued walking. His face stood over the pond. Then his right arm raise over the water, and he looked up at the sky. Something, and from what Mirabelle could remember compelled her to look up. Perhaps it was curiosity, but whatever the case, she was the only person besides her “father” to see the wondrous and deadly spectacle that next appeared. Unsure at first, perhaps her eyes deceived her, no, no, this is too outlandish for it to not be. The stars in the sky that were visible that night, all seemed to gradually at first and then speedily as they moved in toward each other. She wanted to speak, but she couldn’t, her mouth and body where in awe. The stars moved into one designated area. Seemingly they stopped, and to grow. “What?! Look at the pond!” And Mirabelle removed her gazed from the sky to the water, which began to create a funnel in the center. All the water began to drain, and the wind picked up greatly. “We have to leave!!! Run!!!” Gavin screamed as loud as he could over the roaring wind. “Gavin look up!” He glanced at the giant light that raced toward the Earth at full speed, and then wasted no time. The thought of sore feet completely left them, nothing was to be thought about except for the goal of safely escaping this oncoming horror. The wind howled and pushed against their sore bodies. Fighting their escape, it tried its best to pull them back to the devastation. Unable to hold out the fight any longer against this unholy element, the two flew backward into the sky at a raging speed, their bodies twisting and bending and being flung uncontrollable into the chaos. Gavin’s face turned toward the pond that they were being sucked into. The light from the sky was now too in a giant funnel shape, and the tip of the spiral flowed into the giant funnel where the pond use to be. All the trees and brush pointed toward the horrible mass. Some would break free of the ground and join the spiraling light, and seemingly give it power. As suddenly as his face was given the opportunity to see this great feature, the wind forcible and quickly changed direction, now blowing them. A massive heat wave crossed their backs, and the feel to the ground, at suck a quick speed that their consciousness left them for but a few moments. *********************************************************************************** Awake, and burry vision with heavy breathing. Smoke clouded his face, and he leaned forward, staring at the other half of his body covered in dirt and ash. He shook his legs to get it off. What lay before him was something no one ever sees unless by miracle, cause usually they do not survive to see the outcome of what he saw. Fire and smoke, replaced every tree and bush in the wood. A massive wall of raging flames stood before them about hundred or so yards ahead of them, the fire wall replacing the grassy fortress that surrounded the pond earlier. The rest of the land seemed to lay bare for another few miles to come. Quickly he turned to see where Mirabelle was. Franticly searching with his eyes which ached terribley from all the smoke and ash in the air. She was nowhere. His heart racing and anger flowed through him like never before. The straining caused tears to flow from his eyes only to add to those that were naturally already there. The fire wall in the distance parted. Gavin stopped, his anger flew from him, his tears dried from all the heat in the air. He look…nothing for but a few moments. Then…yes…and no!!! It was him, or was it? A blue figure step from the wall, flames blowing around him and whipping in the air. He practically was a blue flame, obviously hot, cause his whole body was burning in a bright blue. He stopped, looking directly at Gavin.

The Wood. Chapter 4

Staring blankly at the immense figure that shown before him, her father couldn’t breath. His life was draining from him, almost literally. The bright and blinding figure, reached out, placing its hand on his shoulder. “Hmmm…do you have faith old man? Your drunken ways shall get you nowhere.” it said in a grim, and shuttering way, all the time expressionless, and without blinking, if you could see its bright eyes. Her father started shuttering immensely, and giving in under the pressure that increased little by little from the hand on his shoulder he gave one last statement, “What do you want from me you evil creature?! You may take me but your time awaits…ugh…you…will…die.” The creature glowed and brighter and brighter the skies became. Filled with this evil light, the dark, shutter too at this oncoming enemy. Then darkness resumed, to shortly win this battle.******************************************The stars filled the night with their graceful presence. The crickets harmonized with the other night creatures, and the breeze occasionally drowned out the noise. But the two shadowed humans basked in it, losing themselves in the sprinkled sky. “Gavin, do you think we are alone?” His mind was lost, and he didn’t fully understand where she was coming from. “Well I hope so, these woods are precious to me.” Giggling at his slowness she said, “Ha-ha, hun, your not getting it. I mean in the universe.” “Oh well yeah, it just would seem fair otherwise. I mean, we have this boring place, if there were others out there, we would be able to be with them and do stuff with them.” “Hmm, I never thought of that, your right.” “But, Mirabelle, doesn’t mean we cant go to other planets. It wouldn’t be fair either if you think about it.” picking up a dandelion, he continued, “We are like this dandelion, the Earth, amidst, this one flower, much happens. Its surrounded by thousands of other dandelions, why shouldn’t the activities on the one dandelion take place on all the others. It just has to remember one thing, its never alone in this place.” Gavin plucked it and placed it gently in the front pocket of her shirt. “Just remember it’s the same for everything.” With that he laid back down on the cool grass, continuing to gaze upon the lighted sky. She decided to do the same. She leaned her head over to gaze at Gavin, his eyes thoroughly distracted by the night. Of course he wouldn’t give up a look from this mysterious and wonderful girl, and he gazed back at her. Their eyes connected in their vision. As suddenly as this great moment started it erupted to a screaming halt, as a blinding flash filled the sky, and the stars and the dark were gone for quite the while, before the light subsided. “Did you see that!” Mirabelle said excitedly and worried. “How could you not!” he replied calmly. “Something’s up Mirabelle, we need to go.” “But I want to see it!” “You want to get killed or something!? You don’t even know what it is!” “Perhaps your right…” she said lying. “Hey I’m just trying to look out for you. I care too much about you to lose you.” With that she smiled, and hugged him. She knew he cared, but she still wanted to know what it was and her curiosity got the best of her.**************************************Her father lay on the ground., body seemingly limp, and dead. No spark of life, to speak of. His closed eyes staring at the same stars the lovers were looking at. Then they jerked open, not eyes, but bright blue, hypnotic, light peered out his sockets, and he stood up.

The Wood. Chapter 3

She stared at the wall, her vision blurred by tears. She muffled her sobs so as not to alert him. Grasping her pillow like it was the end of the world. A trail of blood streaked down the side of her face. She couldn’t think, her thoughts ran wild, she still couldn’t believe it was true. The images of his fist lodged themselves into her mind. The smell of alcohol on his breath, reeked into her nostrils. His eyes red like fire, devoured into her soul. The gargling and yelling that occupied the air was intense, and would send a shriek up anyone’s spine at the thought of what concerned the owners of those sounds. Mirabelle shook her head, to try and shake it off. It was immensely difficult though, as to try to remove the images of your own alcoholic father, abusing you, and beating you. She still couldn’t bear the thought, and never will, except for once since then, since it started and it was with…him. She thought to herself, about…him, Gavin. That wonderful boy, she somehow loses herself to him. All the worries, all the pain that she tried to cover up with makeup and blush, they all seem to fade with him. She forgot everything, and only seemed to focus on Gavin, for a brief moment, until he returned. The door slung open, and she turned around in horror, her eyes, sunk in, and her throat dried. She swallowed but couldn’t feel any saliva. Her nose began to bleed even before the punches, and her bones began to ache and squirm. She could feel him before he was there. “DADDY WAIT! No Please! DADDY!!!” Her cries where eaten up by the dryness in her throat. She couldn’t scream, and he swung. Once, twice, and continued, for at least ten minutes, chasing her and throwing her to the floor. She was to go nowhere but outside, yes, escape this mad, horrid creature she dared not call a father.********************************************************Running through the woods, the cries of the creatures of the night filled the air. Owls hooted to the continuous chorus of crickets and toads. Bushes rattled from the breeze, and the night air was crisp. The stars and the moon lit the way for Gavin. He could have done it without their help, but it certainly was more reassuring. His footsteps continued to increase in pace, as his anticipation, continued to rise. His heart raced, and his breath was unimportant to him at the moment, his only concern was he felt something, something deep in his heart. It called for him, screamed at him, tour at his flesh. It begged him to follow. So he that’s what he did. “I must go there, to the pond, through the wood!” he said. His hands tour open the final vines that blocked the outside viewers’ eye of the pond. And there in the distance…. ***************************************************************** She ran through the woods, stumbling like wounded game, she couldn’t breath and her eyes were swollen. Pounding down the grassy division between the wood and the pond, she fell, her last fall. She couldn’t get up from it, and she didn’t try. She just wanted peace….and Gavin. Moaning she tried to grasp for air, for something to hold. Blindly swinging her arm, she grasped something, something soft, but reliable. A arm, and a trusting hand. She looked up, and thru her blurry vision she saw him. Then sleep, long, dark, refreshing, sleep.*************************************************Awake. But not alone. The cool rag on her forehead dripped water on her cheek and lips. Normally it would be pretty annoying, but it was refreshing at the moment. The shadowy figure cleared up to a recognizable form. “Your awake, good. I was really worried. You feel okay?” he said. “Gavin?…uggg. Yeah I feel better, sore, but better. Where am I?” she wondered. “Your at my house, your in our guest room so don’t worry. You were out for about two hours you know?” “Really that long! Ugh my dad is going to kill me.” she said. “What? No your staying here until you get better, whatever did this to you was pretty evil if you ask me. Your really cut and bruised. Do you remember anything?” Gavin asked. “Yeah.” she muffled, not wanting to tell him, ashamed of her life. But for some reason or another she didn’t remember much of what happened. She could only think about the boy in front of her.********************************************************** Meanwhile, her father went to search for her. “Oh she is dead….dead.” he said. His huge build taking its toll on the wood. Anger and alcohol fuel his desire and hatred toward finding his daughter. As soon as he approached the pond, he opened the grassy fortress like wall, to a blinding light, a light that knocked him off his feet. On the ground , he crawled to escape this light, crawled for his freedom. To no avail. The light caught him, stood above him. Then a voice….*****
