Boy Sets Fire- Notes From the Plague Years
This is an excerpt from the Boy Sets Fire cd called The Misery Index: Notes From the Plague Years that I thought was awesome... She arches her back, hands grasping and releasing the sweat-stainded sheets, uttering a gutteral animal-like keening cry. There is blood everywhere: alone, she suffers. She has been in this state for a full day, it seems like a year of more. The contractions have been steadily increasing in intensity and volume; the end must be near. Once again she shrieks, feeling damned by her actions and by her gender. She feels like she is being ripped from the inside. Her face is wet with sweat and tears. At last her child is born, a beautiful little girl, although damned like her mother to someday suffer the same pain in order to create beauty. The cycle continues.
