All of us like to unwind and relax and a big part of doing this is having fun and playing games. We might go out for a game of football or play a board game like monopoly but more of us are choosing to stay indoors, much to the dislike of medical and health professionals, and play on our games consoles. After all when you have a Wii Console that means you're more active than playing on a typical games console right?

The Wii came out in competition against the 360 and PS3 and although it may not be as technologically advanced as far as games or graphics is concerned it centres around family fun. The games are less serious and cute and then there is the actual way it works as well, not like any other console I've ever seen before.

The Wii doesn't have the typical wired or even wireless controllers it has something called a Wii Remote. This remote is pointed to a sensor on top of sat in front of your TV. The remote works in 3D and has sensors so it can tell if you swing, jab or poke and how hard you have done it, smart yes?

Anyone remember the GameCube? I know I did and man did it come with some really good games, the good news is that you can play them on the Wii and you can put in your GC controllers and even use the memory from it as well. That's why it's always best to keep hold of your old consoles or at least the games! The hand held DS can also be used as a wireless controller for some games!

There are also usb ports and memory storage and the facility to connect to the internet so this little white simple looking box isn't as featureless as the 360 fans may have you think it is! The internet connection also known as WiiConnect24 is a gem in itself.

It stays connected even in standby mode and unlike other manufacturers Nintendo don't charge their customers any fees or make you buy tokens to get online, its all free, you do have to have an existing internet connection at home of course. So now you can play games with friends anywhere in the world and have even more fun!

Other accessories and features come in the form of the parental controls never seen on a nintendo console before. The parent can set the maximum age limit for a game and if the child tries to play an 18+ game and the system is set to only accept 12 then it will not play the game. A Wii Fit Board is now one of the latest crazes too.

The Wii Fit board is really making those who first dismissed the idea that the Wii got people up and on their feet as not being true and that it was no different change their views. Well who can say that when the board can be used as a step as part of an aerobics workout?
