Hmm...how about Sam Roberts' Chemical City?

Chemical City.... Where to begin. Well I've always had an open mind when it comes to music, the only thing I kind of try to avoid is aggressive rap or country with a lot of twang. Anyway one day I heard Bridge to Nowhere by Sam Roberts back when it was a new release. The song completely blew my mind as a matter of fact. What I gathered from the lyrics seemed to be in accordance to the phase i was going through at the time. Life felt so meaningless (I was 15), I wasn't depressed but I wasn't happy either. This song basically was about being filled with despair and working hard but not knowing what your working towards. One line especially got me 'debts paid off but it don't feel gone'. It's like no matter how hard you work, you're never going to reach your destination. 

So one day I went shopping with my sister in HMV and I saw on the new release shelf Sam Roberts' Chemical City. The cover art was amazing, I don't know if you've ever seen it...but if you haven't you should probably google it. It's beautiful. So of course, since I loved the single and it looked so extremely tempting i decided to purchase it.

This was right around midterms that I bought this album and i gotta tell you I've never heard more perfect music to study to.  The songs are melodic and comforting somehow, yet they aren't depressing. Well...A Stone Would Cry Out was a little depressing. But in a good way if that's at all possible. Track 5, entitled Uprising Down Under is absolutely adorable and still gives me a smile everytime.
