Alright, don't get me wrong - I appreciate everyone's invitation to be their friend however, I find it rather pathetic and quite ridiculous that people will just add someone because their hair looks cool or whatever - it's cool though. I just ask one thing - if you're going to add me - add me for a reason... a reason other than to have one more friend. Add me because you're interested in me. You're attracted to me. Or add me because you're interested in who I am. Add me because we have something in common - like our tastes in music. If you're going to add me - at least fucking attempt to talk to me - otherwise, my respect for you is quite low and I'll eventually end up deleting you.
Why I went on this rant? Very simple. Not one person of these friends I have here on purevolume do I actually know in person. Alright, thats cool... but I do find it rather pathetic of I myself to have accepted all 274 random friend requests (or whatever I am at now). I guess my whole purpose of this rant is just to let my frustration out...
Lastly, I just want to thank everyone for their compliments/comments and messages. Keep it real.
At least random fucks are pleasurable...... =]
But now, I must finally update my profile - and with that, I mean my profile picture. Perhaps this will slow down the number of friend requests I receive on a daily basis. I know I will miss all the comments and requests but with time, people change, people mature and people grow. Now is my time to move on from where I stood just 6 months ago.
Thank you everyone!
**This is not an attempt to criticize others, just an expression of thoughts/personal opinion***
-Feel free to comment and critique-
Just to start, let's get a few things straight;
I highly dislike stereotypical people
I believe that fashion is a form of expression, state of dressing the way you like regardless of opinions from others unlike those highschool trends where everyone dresses the exact same.
I don't care what others think or have to say about me because what matters the most is how I see myself - If I want your opinion I'd ask you.
I believe in individuality
'Labelling' or judging others is perhaps my biggest pet peeve. A person's clothes, outer appearance, etc gives NO definition of who a person truly is inside
There's something that needs to be addressed;
These labels are just fucking old, immature and irrelevant
Must I state: Grow the fuck up?
Label yourself rather than others
In fact, create a label of 'Judgement Whore'
And stick it upon yourself
I don't want to hear your shit, nor does anyone else
Apparently you do not know what it's like to be judged on a daily basis
To have gossip and rumours thrive around you
Having your peers refuse to accept
And to see around the illusion of your identity
Mistaken as something you're not
Your outter appearance matters more
To those in which whom don't deserve your time
So tell me, why is it that almost every single individual within any highschool associate everyone else into a social scene classification or shall I say 'group'? To classify one's as 'emo', 'prep', 'skid', 'jock', 'geek', 'goths', 'wiggers', 'gangsta's', etc etc. to me only seems like a claim of "I'm better than you" when yet these people don't even know one another - but will claim they do. Obscene and just another desperate attempt of people trying to fit into that ridiculous social scene.
Labels reinforce stereotypes and prejudices, preventing us from accepting individuals and getting to know the real person. I'm perfectly aware that we all are guilty of this way of life - but fuck, when will all of you get over yourselves and just learn to accept and appreciate everyone's differences!? I can understand that you wish to belong to a certain group as you're trying to create an identity for yourself - I get it, I've been there - by why not look the other way, and consider yourself for whom you are. You are who you are and you can't change that. Your name is your name. You can change it all you want, but you're still the same person. You make yourself whom you want to be. Don't allow others to bring you down and most importantly, don't allow peoples opinions of you bring you down - let them think what they wish to seek. You may feel lost inside, feeling as if you don't even know yourself, perhaps you don't - but I can guarantee you many don't and never do! But you're working on 'defining' yourself. People change, people move on, people grow up, people grow apart: it's reality, it's life. We're individuals so don't be afraid to be an individual - Be yourself and stand up for yourself. As long as you like whom you are, you're set - if you don't like whom you are, you're the only one who can change yourself! What ever you do, don't allow others to bring you down, they have NO power/control over you unless you allow them to have power and control over you.
So, to classify someone based upon their appearance; hair, clothing, behaviour, body language, etc means absolute shit. Plenty of us are in disguise! - Watch out for the wolve's in sheeps clothing - Just because someone looks/dresses a different way does that define who they are inside? Hell no! Clothing is clothing, an expression of oneself, same with hair, and behaviour, but mostly it's a disguise of oneself. Protection, intimidation, hiding one's inner feelings and pains inside. A mask to their pain. Appearance defines NOTHING. Be proud of being yourself; at least you're not a duplicate of everyone else.
Not only do people who classify others into groups need to read this, but also those people who define themselves within a certain category. I'm sure you've heard people before state; "Yeah, right - I am way more emo than her" blah blah blah blah.... Congratulations, I'm looking at you and nodding in disbelief - I want nothing to do with you. Grow up, get a life, and grade something else rather than other social beings.
So, let me give you a brief synopsis of your beloved labels:
Emo: First off, it is not short for emotional and is none of that bullshit everyone considers of sidebangs, tight pants, nor is it that usage of words, heart, knife, suicide, razorblade, slitting one's own wrists, etc nor is it any action of self-harm. As well, to consider 'emo' as a sub-genre of music you need to be examined in the head because 99% of bands make music an expression of illicit emotion. Perhaps a brighter version of the 'goth' and a mixed combination of a poser punk
Preps: Any ordinary person like everyone else. Generally defined as, people who have a lot of cash or act as if they do, and are usually in honours classes and usually are very active in stuff like student government and sports. Enthusiastic with school spirit. Within shopping malls, can usually be found in stores like; American Eagle, Hollister, Campus Crew, etc
Jocks: Generally defined as, male preps who play sports teams. Egotistical and most often those typical 'bullies'
Goths: Classified as the people who dress in all black - or all dark colours - rarely wear any colours. Have no regard for popular culture and don't care about labels, and are most often friends with everyone but the culturally stereotypical people or the ones who act as if they are just too good for them. Black nail polish, eyeliner, favour black boots, studs, and zippers and have a fascination with the darker aspects of life and adolecence. Generally about a sense of belonging, not violent anti-social acts Many people depict goths as 'mentally unhealthy', dark, threatening, macabre
Punks: Anarchists. Like to skateboard and take part in events like concerts. Typically, anti-establishment students. Wear leather coats with studs all around: rebels.
Skids: Typically someone with notably poor hygiene habits, wearing shirts advertising for bands such as Slipknot, with a distinct odor, who smokes a good deal of marijuana. Other various times described as an emo/punk/gothic rocker who just doesnt give a fuck what others think.
Dirties: Most often depicted as kids with greasy hair and a stench of body odour. Sometimes also defined as the kids who stand out at the 'pit' also known as the smokers. Perhaps this image is created only because smoking typically goes along with the guideline; dirty, gross and to non-smokers: the smell of smoke is 'disgusting'
Nerds/Geeks: Associated as males and females who are super smart and dress in a neat, formal matter, and for some reason their image is almost always wearing glasses
Wiggers: White people who act as if they are black - or actually think and believe they are black. You most often see them driving around in those 'rice rocket' cars with an exhaust I'm sure they paid more for than the entire car itself.
Bullies: cowardly group of students that go out of their way to make others school life a living hell through both verbal and physical intimidation.
So explain, is it really worth excluding all those who don't fit into your stereotypical image of perfection. Every single person is generally exactly the same. We all feel the same emotions, all experience the same things, perhaps all in different ways, but all in all, we all are human. Why hate an "opposing" clique for no reason other than they perceiving/having been told that it is the right thing to do. I don't know about you, but I'd much rather regard everyone as an individual than to define a group of people within a label.
I guess all I'm trying to say is that this nonsense about judging others and shit is just immaturity. Accept people's differences and be thankful for them!! We all have much more in common than we realize upon being stuck in highschool.
High school is a place where everyone acts like their lives are great but are really dead inside
The scars of high school last long after graduation day
Highschool is cruel but it eventually ends - don't give a shit 'bout what ppl say - just be yourself!
