A different direction for sure, but experimenting with new ideas isn't a bad thing. Far too often we're quick to judge when an artist changes their sound or ideas in the slightest way. Give the new album more than one glance, listen to it all the way through and listen to the lyrics. Don't just skim through it and you may be surprised with A Thousand Suns. The album feels more matured in a way. Sure I first wasn't crazy about it but give it a chance, and open up your mind. My 2 cents.
