Like A Phoenix on purevolume™

From their humble beginnings back in spring 2005 Like a Phoenix has seen three different drummers, two bassists, and about a million very short name changes (Randomly landing on Like a Phoenix while talking with a friend of ours). The two original members are Dane and Ben. Dane does lead vocals, Ben and Theo play guitar, Brennan plays drums, and after an epic search, we have finally found a bassist, and his name is Stu. Inspired by bands like Thousand Foot Krutch, Relient K, Hawk Nelson, and Switchfoot, we're starting to develop an interesting and original sound. Check back often for concert dates! Also, we'd love to hear what you guys think about the songs. The band email is rocklikeaphoenix@gmail.com. It is checked regularly, and I guarantee that we will answer every email we get. Also, if you email us and ask to be part of our mailing list then we will let you in on all of the latest happenings with the band before it hits the websites!
P.S. sorry about some of the static and assorted technical problems, we had to record our music on a very, very poor mp3 player. (we'll get into a studio sometime soon!)

The Long Search is Over!

I'm happy to report that we finally have found a permanent bassist that comes to practices and is really freaking good at what he does. His name is Stu. I feel a little bit like we just found the holy grail of band members. Except when we found it it was full of stew, so we ate the stew, then some guy wandered by and joined the band cause he can play bass. Bassists are incredibly hard to find.

New Songs and Other Exciting Things

Its been a while now since weve posted anything, so we thought we owed it to everyone to put up a few new songs, so expect those in the very near future! Something else Im pretty excited about is our band email set up. If anyone has any comments about our music, or just wants to talk to the band, feel free to email us and we will email you back! New Song Explanation

So one practice Dane and I (Ben) were really in a songwriting slump, but we decided to tough it out and write a song, just to improve our songwriting in difficult circumstances. So we wrote The Only Thing Truer Than What You Know. The lyrics may seem harsh if you look at them, but really they aren't underneath. It is about a person who won't get over someone they wish they could date. Sometimes two people dating will just never work, and you have to get over it and move on. The most ridiculous thing is that a lot of the time this person has someone else who is wanting to go out with them, but because they don't measure up to the dream boyfriend's imaginary pedestal they will only turn that person down, and then complain about how lonely they are. Dane and me were basically pulling lyrics out of the air, and so it turned into a double meaning of how there is a relationship with our creator that people often ignore. I think the guitar for this song is my favorite thing I've written so far, it sounds really fun and upbeat. I hope you like it, because it is one of the songs that we are recording on the demo we're making this summer.

Naive V2

So i Discovered That apparently we haven't gotten a perfect version of Naive yet. Ben messed up on the solo on the one that i put on recently but it sounds find even so. In fact i think only him and me know about it. So Hopefully Naive V3 will be the final one. Anyways hopefully we'll have another song to post soon too that way you can hear more of us and get a better idea of what our sound is like.

Naive V1

Alright All since Ben refused to give me the good recording of Naive i was forced to use plan B, put on the old version. The only real diffrent is this recording i screw up singing and playing guitar and we weren't balanced and this was the st time ben had ever heard the song. Where as the new version of Naive won't have me screwing up and our guitar and vocals will be balanced better.
