Stockholm based Last Days of April has been around for more than eight years now and if you compare the latest album, If You Lose It (due for release all over Europe on February 23:rd, Sweden February 25:th) to their first couple of records there is no way of telling its even the same band. At least not at a first listen. But when you listen to it more, it all starts to make sense. The evolvement during the last few years is astounding! Its like the music has continuously evolved in the direction of the sound they have now achieved. Its what the music has reached for; like a plant turning its leaves in the direction where the light is coming from.

Karl Larsson formed this group originally and he is still the creative engine in the band. After one 7 and one full-length on different Swedish labels, LDOA signed with Bad Taste in 1998 and has since then released three albums Rainmaker (September 98), Angel Youth (September 00) and last but not least, Ascend To The Stars (May 02).

During all this time LDOA has toured extensively and gig highlights include a 3-week Euro tour with The Promise Ring, the Southside and Hurricane festivals in Germany, the Stockholm Water Festival, the Hultsfreds festival in Sweden, the Livid festival in Australia, a support gig with Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) in Amsterdam, a huge 2,5 week tour of Germany with Sportfreunde Stiller (who entered the German sales charts with their last album at position number 6), a European tour with Sense Field and a 7-week tour with the double platinum selling band Superjesus in Australia!

During all this time the media presence has intensified constantly and after releasing both the Angel Youth and Ascend To The Stars albums on license in Australia, Japan and the U.S. LDOA has received amazing reviews and tons of radio airplay from all corners of the world!

The recording process for If You Lose It was a somewhat different experience though. Their last two albums were recorded, mixed and produced by Pelle Gunnerfeldt (who is currently producing the new Hives album and also recorded Sahara Hotnights, Int. Noise Conspiracy etc) at his studio in Grndal, Stockholm. This time around the band wanted to try something different and entered Mission Hall Studio in the south of Sweden with Mathias Oldn from the Bad Taste band Logh and Pelle Gunnerfeldt producing the album together. This allowed the band to spend more time in the studio, trying out different arrangements and recording the album with different people than they would have in Stockholm. At the same time though, you dont want to stray too far from a winning formula and the album was later mixed together with Pelle at Grndal and he also plays bass on one of the tracks

Being no strangers to extensive touring LDOA will take it up a notch with the release of the new album and late February will be the beginning of a very busy period for the band. Starting out with a few European showcase gigs and a dozen in store gigs in Scandinavia late February, they will then play 20 shows in Scandinavia in March before embarking on a 5-week European tour starting on April 7:th!! With a bit of luck we will also get the boys over to North America before the summer festivals kick in early June! Needless to say, well keep you posted on all this!

Please contact Bad Taste Records for further information on the band.
