it's not often that one finds a singer songwriter like larissa maestro. drawing from her love of country, classical, pop and rock music, south american writers like gabriel garcia marquez, actresses like audrey hepburn, and her upbringing as a filipino-american in upstate new york, her music is anything but uniform.
since taking up cello and piano in elementary school, larissa is now a graduate of berklee college of music. she has played with and/or opened for such acts as dylan in the movies, the click five, jesse terry, rebecca loebe, tom mcrae, dirtie blonde, charlie worsham, emily grogan, and many others. she has rocked such boston venues as the paradise, tt the bears place, the middle east, the skybar, and toad among others.
she headlined the one breath one life tour, www.onebreathonelife.com, as well as played the ithaca festival in her hometown of ithaca, ny from 1993 - 1997. both exemplify larissa's strong sense of community which she extends to the world through her music with songs that are dangerously catchy, breathlessly sad and embody a searing lyrical honesty that resonates with any beating heart.
she worships the songwriting powers of aimee mann, ryan adams, gillian welch, john lennon and paul mccartney, while loving the in-your-face pop of kelly clarkson and shania twain. these influence manifest with sweet melodies, simple chords, soaring pop vocals, and introspecive lyrics that literally capture the essence of how music, in fact, is a form of the divine.
crossing genres and bridging the shrinking gaps between rock, pop and country, larissa's music has such staying power that even the committment phobics want to give her a ring, if only to maintain the healthy addiction that will surely ensue
with her debut album, maybe later (2007), larissa intends to prove to the world just how serious she really is.
