Pop / Folk Rock / Indie
Larissa Jaye is a mistress of lyric-driven pop-folk whose writing can best be described as a mix of the influences of Dar Williams, Tori Amos, and Alanis Morissette. Currently based in NYC, Larissa is an independent singer-songwriter who walks a tightrope between the classic and the progressivefearlessly expressing her insights on personal experiences, universal themes, history and pop culture, she uses passion, sensitivity, and wit to claim the middle ground between Joni Mitchell and Michelle Branch. Since teaming up with producer Jonathan Perkins (Nate Walker, Nashville String Machine) and engineers Peter Doris (Chantal Kreviazuk, Elvis Costello, Marc Cohn) and Scott Jacoby (Sam Bisbee, Maiysha, John Legend), Larissa has been busy in production of her first full-length album, due out in the Spring of 2006 on her own fledgling label, Rella Records. Coming from an acoustic beginning, Larissa's goal for this project is to maintain her folk sensibilities while opening up her sound to a larger mainstream pop audience. With the support of her production team, as well as over a dozen additional musicians, the album's 14 possible tracks now integrate elements of pop, folk, jazz, rock, and electronica, making this long-awaited record everything from intimate to epicand nothing short of an adventurous labor of love that promises to make its mark.
Larissa is a member of ASCAP, the National Academy of Popular Music (NAPM), and Songsalive!, a Performing Member of Indiegrrl, an Elite member of GoGirlsMusic, and is published through Baby Rellaphant Music (ASCAP).
