Bay Area Indie Music Fest Takes Slight Breather, Prepares for Next Year
The Casual Lean once again grace the front page of PUREVOLUME.COM with their unkempt mugs in an in-studio acoustic performance of three great songs. They sound fantastic and you need to check it out. They play The Deer, Bride of Kirkenstein and Real Kids. It should hit the spot wherever you are on this beautiful Friday afternoon.

If you have not picked up a copy of Swears then you are shamed. Go to your local independent record store and shimmy on down to the C-section. Funny, I got here by shimmying through a c-section. That joke goes out to my mom. Thanks Rosemizzle!
The Bay Area Indie Fest went off with a slightly delayed but nevertheless resounding BANG last Saturday and although every first-year festival has its hitches, it was an overall success and everyone involved cannot wait until next year for bigger and better things. And audible vocals.
The Transit War played around 4:30pm to what was possibly the largest crowd of the day and came back with new friends and fans, and much less merchandise. Brad and business partner Javier\'s sunglass and clothing company Evode also did quite well; check them out.
It was great to hang with all of the bands; I would like to thank IMEEM.COM for all of their support and Erica of Chipotle for saving the day with about 100 VIP burritos.
Milktree Records has started accepting band submissions as we renovate the label for a January coming out party. If you or someone you know is in a working band serious about taking their dreams on the next step toward realization then cruise over to www.milktreerecords.com and fill out our application of sorts.

SWEARS IS COMING!/ OPR Teams Up With MXPLAY and Limelight Networks for a LIVE CONCERT WEBCAST of The Stranger\'s Six TOMORROW
First Ever Orange Peal Co-Headline!
I\'m going to go ahead and say it: last Wednesday\'s Santa Barbara tour stop with The Stranger\'s Six was out of control. Out of control not in cruise control but more of a Sonny Bono on the slopes kind of control. The ironic part would be the memory of trying to climb a palm tree with members of C24C, Demasiado and a former member of Unwritten Law. Trees and ski slopes and metaphors: they\'ll get you every time, babe.
We have two huge pieces of news for you this week; one being how were are partnering up with MXPLAY and Limelight Networks as MXPLAY announces the launch of its new web product, MXPLAY web, and their new website! For those who are joining the concert, MXPLAY is giving you a sneak peak at the new site and their new product, MXPLAY web. MXPLAY web, allows users to find music all over the web, no matter where it is located. Users can then listen to MP3s in high fidelity 3d sound, build play lists, mash it up with their favourite Youtube videos and save and share their mashups and play lists with friends. Once downloaded, the web product becomes an icon that resides on your browser and alerts you when MP3s are found when you surf music blogs, music sites or the MXPLAY home page. So join the online music revolution. Find and play music while you browse the web.
Here is the link to bookmark until 9pm on Wednesday, July 18th:
So if you are not able to make the San Jose, CA show then be sure to tune in online when The Stranger\'s Six go on at 10pm.
The Casual Lean have been waiting a long time for this month. Swears finally hits stores on July 31st but there is a pre-order on smartpunk, where you can buy the record for $9.99 (are you out of your mind?!).
Until then you will be able to stream the full-length album on purevolume.com where The Casual Lean are the FEATURED ARTISTS! That\'s right: get ready for The Casual Lean; they\'re coming to get you.
The Casual Lean are also recording some live videos in the Purevolume studios TOMORROW that will be available for viewing when the minimal post-production is completed. Thank you Purevolume for your continued support!
Great reviews keep coming in for Swears. A lot of industry folk have been intently waiting for this record and know the history behind its release. Here is the latest review from Wonka Vision Magazine: http://www.wonkavisionmagazine.com/reviews/?p=361
The Casual Lean are interviewed in a great article by PastePunk.com here: http://www.pastepunk.com/news.php?nav=rss&rss_id=8216
The Transit War have been booking new shows for coming months, including a Los Angeles show and a SAN FRANCISCO show! As someone who (currently) lives in the Bay Area... I\'ve needed this for a long time. The shows are listed below.
Other than the things I mentioned above, all I would tell you to do would be to pre-download the MXPLAY software and head to www.evodeeyewear.com to check out some killer products for your summer.

The first ever (weekly) Orange Peal Award for Excellence in Text Messaging goes to...
Aaron (A*Fresh) Thompson from The Stranger\'s Six. After a night in the beautiful town/ mound of Yuma, Arizona last week, the dialogue between us went like this:
Aaron: So much drama last night...
OPR Anchorman: Everyone alive, sort of fed and out of jail?
Aaron: Sort of... all of our hotel furniture is somehow outside
OPR Anchorman: Amazing. I just canceled your tour.
Alas, we did not cancel their tour. In fact, the show will go on starting in Santa Barbara today, July 11th at Velvet Jones. I mention this particular show because the bill is STACKED with fellow partiers C24C, Demasiado, The Dance, and Mike Francis.
So if you\'re around the beautiful city of Santa Barbara, CA drop on by! We\'re making the trip from our Bay Area offices because of the extreme levels of debauchery that will inevitably happen.
The Sixxx will be cruising up the coast through Seattle, then back down through the desert of California, to Vegas and back to San Diego where I\'m sure they will all separately (and collectively) involve themselves in some serious mirror-crying. Mirror-crying is obviously the act of looking into your life and, well, sobbing uncontrollably, wiping away the tears and getting back to that life. This might happen after a long day at work, a morning where you wake up next to something that appeared to be much different (or not) the night before, or even just being the last person picked in sloshball or whatever.
Anyways, as someone thoroughly involved with Orange Peal artists on a day to day basis, I seldom play any CD\'s from these fantastic musicians. I mean I hear clips of their stuff all day long while updating this and that... talk about some serious mirror-crying. However, the other day I gave The Casual Lean\'s Swears a listen again and man: that is a solid mofo\'in record! The whole CD flows fantastically, throughout, then dips into what will undoubtedly be their lighter-raising, prepubescent girl-screaming song \"The Deer,\" then finishes with a bang. The release date of Swears July 31st.
Quickly, two snippets from reviews of Swears:
\"Needless to say, this record is one that will grow like a weed in your player. It will keep coming back no matter how much you take it out, yet it will somehow magically reappear and will be there in the background until you finally realize, it isnt a weed at all, but instead, a beautiful flower. Do yourself a favor and start leaning on The Casual Lean!!! \" -Skyline Press
\"Swears is a bouncy and witty album with an emphasis on good times, angular riffage, and shaky rhythms.\" -pastepunk.com (I would recommend reading the entire review as it is well-written and at least adequately researched...)
Purevolume.com will have The Casual Lean as featured artists for the week prior to the release date and our boys will be performing live in the Purevolume.com studio on 7/18. The video of that performance will be available for all to rejoice in a few days later. A national tour would certainly follow that, and us Left-Coasters can\'t wait.
The Transit War are back on the road, making curtain calls in Arizona in July, then returning for another legendary Casbah show with Spell Toronto in early August.
Other than that we\'re just livin\' the dream over here, preparing for a monumental announcement in coming weeks. Orange Peal Records will be taking on the world, so stay tuned.

\"Newscorp Goes Policital?! Get Out Of Here!\"
Two of The Sixxx Banned From Vegas for Reasons That Did Not Stay In Vegas!
Thank God for myspace. Seriously.
Just when I was beginning to think that our future as free and bad ass Americans was in jeopardy I went to the premier social networking site of the universe. Prior to this particular visit I was ready to throw in the towel- I mean where was I going to find objective, freely accessible, unpaid for information on political candidates for upcoming elections? Sure, Ill have Fox News and CNN hooked to my catheter (because I like to have BOTH sides of the REAL story, five-minute segment at a time, bludgeoned into me). But for this old habit of vegetation to happen I would have to get up from my arse and sit and watch people argue and try to make points.
I would have to get off myspace!
So imagine the excitement when I saw political candidate pages, brought to you by Tom of Newscorp! With this in mind, I have a few suggestions for these candidates:
- Have funny youtube videos on your page. Everyone likes these things! But moreover, you should have a cookie detect which area the visitor is from and cater to their youtube needs. Red state? Throw up a video of Foxworthy or that guy who makes fart jokes and pretends to be a poor farmer-type person (upon further research: Larry the Cable Guy). Make sure a song is up from those bleach-tipped pop-country music stars called (further research) Rascal Flatts. Of course if you are in one of the more progressive, populated, economy-driving states be sure to have Daily Show and Family Guy videos with a soundtrack of JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE: because everyone loves My Love. That song rocks:http://tingster.i-m-e-e-m.com/video/6gY0zdzP/justin_timberlake_mtv_vma_performance/ (no dashes)
- For Jesus sake put some cool flash games up, like Bomb the Foreigners or something, or even a GW boxing game, because beating him up in a game is basically making change in society.
- Have a funny survey up. And baby pictures.
- Have a sweet default pic. Maybe something cleavagy.
- Have sweet party pics up.
- Here, have input yourself- here at Orange Peal we encourage feedback and if Hillary reads this she might just pull out the election. Feel free to leave a comment on our blog or email ME with a response. We will vote on it here at the office and the winner gets free swag!
Now we just need to be able to actually vote for actual elections on myspace and Ill be set. If we create scratch n sniff LCD screens and disk drives that fart out McDonalds burgers I wouldn\'t even have to leave this place of places!
Are these politician profiles weird to anyone else?
So something was brought to my attention by our publicist the other day and it is pretty much the coolest thing ever. The Stranger\'s Six were banned from Vegas for... well you read the thing:

The Sixxx will be embarking on their coastal adventures soon enough; here is the tour flyer by J.SWANK:

As is is still June, here is their June cover of Revolt.

Infamous interview about life, love and Aaron\'s penis: (http://www.punktv.ca/?c=105&a=2600)
There is also footage of an exclusive live interview with most of the band before their CD release show in San Diego the other week, located HERE (http://stimtv.com/member/thestrangerssix). Just go to Exclusive Interview under My Videos.
The Sixxx have also been featured in this issue of Campus Circle. Check out what Aaron has to say.

Be sure to click over to orangepeal.com or myspace.com/thestrangerssix for updated tour dates!
I\'ve been telling a few people to download this song called \"Meet Me\" by The Transit War but the link was taken down from spin.com. It\'s an oldie but greaty and everyone seems to enjoy the hell out of it. This is our gift to you, world:
http://orangepealrecords.i-m-e-e-m.com/music/ccXawJxB/meet_me/ (take away the dashes)As noted last week, The Transit War have been selected by the Alternative Press as one of the 22 Best Underground Bands That Likely Wont Stay Underground For Long! Thats right: out of an entire nation completely addicted to music, The Transit War were chosen- and they deserve the hell out of it:

Their name implies violence against transportation, but its musical genres this San Diego four-piece destroy. Their sophomore full-length Miss Your Face is 11 variations on an indie theme, sometimes with Smoke Or Fire urgency and others with Jimmy Eat World pop overtones.
So be sure to grab this issue of AP and check out some of those other bands in your continued and appreciated support of The Transit War and other (somewhat) independent rock bands.
Continuing an ongoing theme with TTW, their contribution to the Punk The Clock compilation entitled Brilliant Deceivers is complete and completely radical. Be sure to check it out.
The Casual Lean are keeping busy with some great tour dates with excellent supporting bands back east. The Orange Peal team has been diligently putting together the artwork for the record and the packets for the mailings and other really exciting label work for the July release of Swears. Swears! Swears! Swears!
Alright keep the dream alive,
Orange Peal Anchorman
