Konspiracy
blog post
Konspiracy is one of the newest rising metal sensations from the midwest state of Illinois. Currently, as a four piece metal band, they are beginning to really make a name for themselves and aquire quite a following. With influences ranging from Iron Maiden, Pantera, and Metallica to Through The Eyes of The Dead, The Black Dahlia Murder, and I Killed The Prom Queen, this band really does not limit themselves. But to fully understand how Konspiracy has made it to their On The Rise Underground status, you must trace to their roots.
Konspiracy formed in late 2005 as Tony Lindsey, Tim Wall, Hunter Adams, and Riley Keith. The band name Konspiracy had came from guitarist/vocalist Tim Wall from the previous Konspiracy which began in early 2003. Soon after letting Adams go, the band completed the four piece line-up with addition of vocalist Brent Seidelman later that year. Debuting with their rough 3-track demo in the summer of 2006, Konspiracy began to gain a following. Also later that year, the band recruited Clayton Thompson and Will Cochran, both as guitarists. As a six piece metal band, they began to rise in the underground sound status. During theat time they also released a 7-track ep entitled Diary. The planned full release of Diary was set back due to complications with Brent leaving the band as well as Clayton and Will. So instead, the pre-release was released in early 2007.
During their on-hiatus status with Brent's departure, Tim and Clayton began to write for the planned sophomore album Prefix Seldom Spoken. As the band began to search for their new lead singer, Brent's older brother Brody arose to take on the challenge. This time around, influences began to expand to a much more darker sound, but not losing the bands original sound. "I think mainly the transition was made during the time we were all getting better at playing our instruments," says Tim. "We'd like to go heavier, but not to where we lose our post-hardcore/metal roots." And you can really tell the difference. Comparing tracks from the planned second album to Diary, the tracks have got a sort of death metal feel on them. There latest single This Harboring Hate proves the sound.
During this time, Will was let go from the band and Clayton made his leave. So the band took the time to work on all the new material and manage as a four piece band. The band has already played handfuls of shows with names such as Kingston Falls (Facedown Records) Karate High School, and The Final Hour. The band has also developed good friendships with local bands Verdict and Corcid. These guys are also featured on 90.1 FM late thursday nights on the C U IN HELL radio station. One thing is for sure though, throughout any hardships these guys may have faced, they will pull through it and continue to do what they love. Be sure to keep your eye out for these guys.
