The Knockouts
Progressive punk-ska rockers The Knockouts remain the band to watch in the GTAs indie scene theyre totally energized, musically adept and just plain fun. Fronting the band are Justin Zoltek and Skinny Anto on lead guitars and lead vocals respectively. As educated musicians, Justin and Skinny operate on a higher level than most players in mainstream rock; and having gigged together for the better part of six years, these gentlemen present a show with material as refined and taut as any in the business. Justin and Anthony share the song writing duties almost exclusively with help from drummer extraordinaire Jeremy Kleynhans. Another highly trained musician, Jeremy brings to the band a keen sense of composition as well as a groove and synergy as polished and profound as any influential rhythm masters at work today. Holding down the bottom end is bassist Thomas Dallan who exhibits a maturity often reserved for the very best in rock music his entire game is propulsion with simplicity they just dont come any better at his age. Rounding out the line-up is the horn section: trombonist Emily Ferrell and bari saxophonist Dana Gray add the necessary gloss that authenticates the bands sound bold and brassy, these women add a sweet and sassy feminine touch to an already growling ensemble big fun indeed. The Knockouts have sold over 2000 units of their initial set of recordings stage side to dedicated fans all over Ontario. Add to this over 50000 hits on myspace and one admits to a potent formula for success. Moreover, The Knockouts have not gone unnoticed in the press they recently were nominated for Mississaugas Emerging Artist Award and have attracted their share of youthful pundits to a number of sold-out gigs.
