There's a new sound coming out of these here parts. It's a sophisticated rumble of jazz, fusion, funk, rock & reggae - a sort of billy joel/tom waits -inspired 3 piece with the clutch of the Police's simplicity
Frontman Mike ("Piano Mike") Oristian, former piano-lounge singer around Los Angeles, teamed up with rock drummer Shannon Williams and bassist Romanze Willoughby to put a very germane live act together that is impressing the most discerning ears, and drawing new life into the ignored musical spectrum between mainstream and jazz (Norah Jones & Michael Buble)
With his Wurlitzer electric piano distorted to the sound of a guitar, there's a real urgency in Mike's keyboard playing that's a perfect complement to his wise and husky laconic voice. And then there's the relaxed charisma that only comes from years of taking requests over a bottle of red.
