Members: Ben, Elias, Jonah
Kid Twist
So, Jonah played bass, and Elias played guitar. Problem was, a decent drummer was a rare commodity in High Falls, NY. To compensate, Jonah started playing drums and they rocked out White Stripes style, except that Jonah was a boy and was probably a much better drummer. A few months and one semi-successful show in a certain basement into this wonderful experiment, they decided to try out for a Battle of the Bands. "Spectacular," they were told, "the only thing you need is a bassist."
It was then that the great search for the right drummer began. Elias and Jonah became aware of young Benjamin Hefele, a fine drummer who was currently occupying himself playing Led Zeppelin covers and subconsciously wishing for more. "Ben," they said, "we've got this band thing going on, and we need a drummer." He agreed, and with Jonah back where he belonged on bass, they got together for a grand total of two hour-long practices to get ready for the epic Battle. They didn't win, but managed to take a valiant second and got some of the prize money. $60. Sweet.
Since then, they've returned to win the Battle throne, in addition to playing many more shows, and recording an EP and their hotly anticipated debut album. Kid Twist have evolved from a two-man act to an energetic and original musical powerhouse, fusing the best parts of every genre of rock and roll and coalescing into something far more than the sum of its parts.
Born into a music scene that seems to be becoming more and more obsessed with subdividing and classifying music into hundreds of convoluted sub-genres, Kid Twist are determined not to be classified. With catchy pop hooks backed by heartfelt and intelligent songwriting, Kid Twist are simultaneously carving out their own niche and bringing the disparate classes of rock music back together.
