On June 20, 2005, Nick Brilleaux found a twenty-year-old Yamaha keyboard in his attic. Andrew Starns joined Nick in recording several songs that evening, and Keymonster was born. By the end of the summer they had released Purple Truck Mistake, an action-packed album featuring favorites such as Shoot the Mime and Arm in the Deep Fryer.
In the summer of 2006, Keymonster released a second album, Asparagus Graveyard. The album did not succeed as far as the band had hoped, however the band's nine country tour of Africa in November increased sales and landed the Ghost of Garthbrooks on the top of the charts in several non-English speaking countries. Live at Practice EP was released at the end of 2006.
Keymonster is currently working on it's third major release, Sound Fairies, which is set to be released at the end of the summer.
