From his humble beginnings in the small town of Anderson, SC to his playing with such national artists as Vertical Horizon, Lostprophets, Edwin McCain, Hoobastank, The Wallflowers, Josh Kelly, Uncle Cracker, Cowboymouth, Atheneaum, Hootie and the Blowfish, Lifehouse, and more Kenny Floyd is quickly climbing to the pinnacle of his success. At a time when the southeast is a place more of camaraderie than competition, Kenny Floyd is working his way through the circles and is establishing himself as one of the most well known acts in the region. His last collaborative project Shades of Grey, now disbanded, was able to self release three albums selling an impressive number to the many followers who instantly got tempted by Kenny's soulful vocals and hook-based rock.
Now spearheading his own solo project, Kenny Floyd has the uncanny ability to continue to play honest, heart felt songs that are rooted deeply at the essence of Kenny's passion for writing and performing music. "Music is my passion. It allows me to express myself when words and ordinary phrases are obsolete."
Kenny prides himself on being down to earth and accessible both to his fans and to industry players by taking the time to get to involved in charity events, and playing at those events that move him spiritually. "Fortunately, music isn't all about money. It is about the ability to create and to touch people to let them know that they are not alone. More importantly, creating music is to help me know that I, too, am not alone. We are in this thing called life together, and together, through music, we can cope."
Although Kenny's genre has been labeled as alternative pop, his ever present ties to the Carolinas can be heard through his songs and Peter Grimm cowboy hat which he proudly sports on stage. Kenny's confident demeanor and chronic smile is both infectious and demonstrative and is the portrait of a man being lead by his spirit and drive to succeed. Kenny Floyd is surely on his way to national stardom.
