Kelly Dalton was raised in a house full of music. His mother and father, both singer/songwriters, met in a folk club in New York and together, formed renowned folk group "The Back Porch Majority" in the 60's.
From the beginning it was clear Kelly was destined to be a musician. He was fascinated by the simple, yet beautiful chord changes and melodies of Cat Stevens, Simon & Garfunkel and James Taylor. He began playing these songs on the house piano and guitar soon followed. Starting in his teens he performed with various bands, until he decided to start singing lead vocals and be on his own with his own songs. Small impromptu coffee house and various live performances drew increasingly larger audiencesâ¦loyal crowds soon followed.
These days attending one of Kelly's shows is listening to someone share a story about their life, love, and loss. "Kelly's songs are like finely aged wine poured directly from the heart", said a fan of his live performances, âIf you listen closely to his songs you can't help but feel his painâ
âThe Love In Every barâ was recorded by Producers Thom Flowers and Emile Millar in 2005.
WHAT DOES THE ALBUM TITLE MEAN ? âI was reading a review of The Beach Boys album "Pet Sounds" in an old music magazine when a quote caught my eye âYou can really hear the love in every bar of music Brian Wilson wroteâ Iâve worked and performed in many bars, so it seemed to be a nice fit"
The album as well as some of his live band features a handful of some talented eclectic musicians including: bassist Milo Decruz (Ryan Adams, Dunken Shiek) guitarist Joshua Grange (Lucinda Williams, Dwight Yoakum), and organ/keyboard Jebin Bruni (Aimee Mann). Owen Barnhart (drums) and Cisco Deluna (lap steel, accordian) fill out the band for live performances. Kelly sings lead vocals and plays both guitar and piano.
âItâs been a long, but good road so far, and Iâm just grateful to have been born into a family that loved and supported me with music and fortunate enough to live and play in the eclectic folk music scene in Los Angeles. My dream is to expand my music to be able to touch people all over the worldâ.
